Muckross Park Hotel

My family, a group of 13 in total ranging in age from 4 to 80, spent the weekend in this glorious hotel. The location is perfect and the hotel and the staff are definitely something to write home about. We lunched and dined in the bar beside the hotel on Friday - Molly Darcy's - and had a full-blown 5 star meal in the Blue Pool Restaurant in the hotel. We booked a total of 5 rooms in the hotel including a suite (for Mom and Dad, specially for their anniversary). Each room was beautifully decorated and the suite was to die for. The Cloisters Spa is wonderful, my father had never been to a Spa before and hasn' stopped talking about it since. It must be one of the most peaceful places on earth. The Monk's bar (the residents bar) is a little bit of heaven on earch. My husband said to me as we were leaving on Sunday "we are definitely booking a couple of days here just for the two of us". Am making arrangements already, just got to get the baby-sitter organised. I would highly recommend this hotel and their wonderful tstaff.

“not a five star hotel”

Muckross Park Hotel

Visited Muckross Park to meet up with friends who were on a two night break in the hotel. Firstly, the web page is totally misleading, the opening page giving the impression that somewhere in the immediate vicinity or at least in view from the hotel is a lake! Certainly not in view from my room, nor from either of the two rooms occupied by my friends. Secondly, on viewing the 'hotel' web hotel page, I made the unfortunate mistake of thinking that I was going to be staying in the magnificent old building in view, which was in fact Muckross House itself! What a disappointment to arrive at a hotel on the side of the road, surrounded by a carpark, and some pre 1980's apartments in need of some paint. The Hotel foyer is very nice, as were the staff in general. Rooms are most definitely not up to 5 star standard, paintwork in bathroom in needs to be freshened, the t.v. a joke and difficult to see from the bed! The hotel bar was absolutely freezing, 'fine dining,' nice, but food luke warm. Finally, waited 25 minutes for an omelette for breakfast & my friend waited an astonishing hour for kippers!!

“The best Hotel in Ireland”

Muckross Park Hotel

5 of 5 stars

My husband, our baby and I stayed there for one night – can’t remember but must have been a Saturday night. Absolutely loved the hotel. They arranged for babysitting. A very pleasant local girl arrived exactly at the agreed hour and babysat our daughter. It was our first time we were leaving our baby with a sitter at night time, so we decided to eat in the hotel restaurant. The food was exceptional – definitely the best food I have eaten in Ireland. The hotel & restaurant are not cheap but they absolutely deliver. Even the hot food ordered from the kitchen for breakfast was immaculately prepared and presented. The breakfast buffet was very nice too. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only glitch was that the swimming pool was not included in the room price.

Most definetely will go back.

“Never Again”

Muckross Park Hotel

Let me first start by saying that their web site is completely misleading. It shows it as being an idyllic paradise set in woodland with only the sound of the lake to comfort you.
This is not the case it is barely set back from a main road and there is no grand drive way or entrance just a big indescript lump of tarmac.
As if this wasn't dissapointing enough but the only thing that you have to look out on as a view is the car park.
Also the service was incredibly poor. On one of the mornings we stayed it took nearly an hour to have breakfast served and that was in the dining room. We voiced our opinion to the waitress but it seemed to fall on deaf ears.
Also if a hotel claims itself to be 5 star surely the towels and linen should not be made of sand.
We have previously been lucky enough to stay in other 5 star hotels worldwide and this was a sorry excuse for 5 star.
It is a complete example of how much of a rip off ireland is lately.
And I should know I am Irish.
Word to the wise save your money and go out the other side of the town to the Aghadoe Heights Hotel. Now that is special.
As for the Muckross Park if Microwaved dinners and tortoise speed service along with an excuse of a spa are your thing and you have nothing to compare it to be my guest and get ripped off.
You have been warned !!

“Perfect for Weddings......”

Muckross Park Hotel

After viewing several other hotels in Killarney, we decided to book the Muckross Park for our New Year 's Eve wedding. After confirming our booking we were alarmed to read the reviews on Tripadvisor. However we have just celebrated the most amazing wedding at this hotel. The facilities, quality of food and the level of service are exceptional. The wedding co-ordinator Annie's attention to detail is excellent and she is supported by a very strong and committed team. This hotel certainly warrants it's new 5 star status and I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone who is looking for the perfect wedding venue.
