“Best Hotel Food In Killarney”

Scotts Hotel

Feb 12, 2008

Just returned from a weekend trip with friends from Scotts Hotel in Killarney. I booked this hotel in centre of Killarney as I knew it had been totally refurbished and wanted to try it out. I booked for three weekend nights and asked specifically for a balcony room overlooking the Malton Hotel street side. However, before we got there I received a call from Scotts telling me that the hotel was going to be closed on Sunday night of my stay and they would book me into a nearby hotel for the Sun night. I agreed to this.Upon check in, we were not allocated a balcony suite as the girl there said the suites were closed but we could move in the morning . My husband did not want any moving so he said forget it , just take what they had allocated.

We stayed in Room 402 on the fourth floor on the side nearest the church overlooking theparkling lot. The room itself was very presentable and spotless. However for me, it was way too noisy as some huge machine like an air conditioner started up at five in the morning, followed by church bell at eight. My husband mangaged to sleep through it all, so if you are a light sleeper, don't agree to a room on the church side as you won't get a good night sleep. My friends were across the corrider in 403 overlooking the courtyard and did not hear the same noise as I did.

The hotel itself is very modern and nice open plan with lobby, and dining room in one. The staff there were just wonderful and I cannot fault anything , they were v friendly and v honest.I asked the girl there when leaving if I could see the balcony suites as i told her where we stayed was v noisy. She showed me them and I will defintely try to book one on my next visit. She informed me that the reason we did not get one,was that the hotel only opens on a Fri and Sat during the spring months and if it gets busy they open the suites then.Guess they are trying to cut back on heating bills as all these rooms are on the same fourth floor.!!!

Now to the food. I have to say I have stayed in a lot of hotels in Killarney over the years, as we visited 2/3 times a year, and the food we ate in Scotts is the best hotel food I have ever had. The breakfasts are outstanding because they were cooked fresh to order and cooked absolutey perfect, We had one dinner included in our package but we loved it so much , we bought dinner there again on the second night . Everything was just lovely , and I still think about the Dutch apple cinnamon pie, it was scrumcious. The girls in the dining room and reception were only brillant and high praise for their friendliness, efficency and welcome manners.Well done to Staff of Scotts.

This hotel is right in the town, it is very reasonably priced and was great to visit with friends if you want a hotel with good food and a great residents bar. If you want a quiet hotel for rest or romance, maybe hotels out further around Muckross would be more suitable.
I would return to Scotts with friends or group for a good weekend away, as I loved the food, but I would have to get a quieter room as I like some sleep while away. If I was travelling just with my husband, I would probably opt for a quieter hotel as Scotts is quite a lively spot with a great atmosphere.Pefect option for those not wanting to drive, great food, good accomodation and a lively atmosphere.

“Fantastic Hotel”

Scotts Hotel

Oct 4, 2007

A great hotel, right in the middle of Killarney. Everything is on your doorstep. The room we had was gorgeous, very big and spacious and a lovey balconey. We didnt hear a thing all night, the bed was very comfortable and clean and tidy. We only ate breakfast in the hotel, not dinner but the cooked Irish breakfast was lovely and the staff were most helpful. It was a bit more expensive than other hotels in the area (75 euro pp per night B&B) but it was well worth it and defintely value for money. I will definetely be staying in Scotts hotel if I return to Killarney in the near future.

PS - 'Cronin's Restaurant' across the road from the hotel is wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!! They do the best food ever and we ate in there the whole 3 nights we stayed in Killarney!

“Great location - good hotel”

We stayed in this hotel just for one night but I would definitely go back there again. It's right in the middle of Killarney, has free car parking directly under it and has recently been done up so it’s very modern looking.

The bar is a good size with a nice courtyard area for those sunny days and the bar food was very nice and a good price. The have a residence bar which stayed open till 3 - grand for a few to finish off the night :)

We ordered breakfast to our room and that was also fine (warm and plenty of it)

I would no problems recommend this hotel to friends and family

“fabulous”

This is a gorgeous hotel, right in centre of killarney town, night life is great!! plenty of pubs, shops, restaurants all within walking distance. Free car park under hotel. Great bar, restaurant and covered beer garden with live entertainment every night throughout summer. We stayed for 3 nights would loved to stay longer, but hotel didnt offer a discount after 3 nights, which most hotels do.but even still its worth paying the money, i would have paid more!!

room was fabulous, but warning to other guests, you can hear loud music and noise from street, which i didnt mind cause i loved the lively scene but heard complaints, so if you have young children it might not suit.

“great hotel”

We had a lovely week at Scotts Hotel. This is a recently refurbished hotel in a modern style. We had a big room overlooking the mountains. It was very clean with a great tv and tea making facilities. Very comfortable bed. This hotel has underground secure free parking which was a great bonus as the weather was quite wet so we were dry loading our car etc. and we always knew we had a parking space as parking spaces are hard to find! There are great places to eat in Killarney but we chose to eat in the hotel bar most nights as it was good value with plenty of choice to our taste. We were delighted with our choice and would stay here again.
