I was enchanted with Scotts Hotel. Lately renewed and refurbished, perfectly located in town with spacious Courtyard Restaurant & fabulous food just spoiled our weekend.
What differs it from other hotels is lively beer garden open throughout the summer which attracts plenty of young people.
What's more I was delighted by friendly and helpful staff. All in all I would not find any better place to stay in Killarney ..

Stayed one night. Upon arrival paid cash in advance, had a meal that evening in the restaurant, paid for the meal in cash again.
Checked out the following morning, gave keys back to receptionist. Was walking down the street when, hotel staff were shouting asking us to return. When we went back to them they asked us to return to the hotel so that they could confirm that we had paid for the evening meal. Told them we had but they insisted we come inside for them to double check. As you can imagine this was a very embarrising situation as there was a lot of people around including people we actually knew.
So we went back in, they checked and confirmed that yes we had paid.
Obviously, they were all apologetic and gave various reasons for the mix up, apparently it was the computers fault!!!
However if this was a more professionally run hotel this would never have happened
sloppy service by poor staff>

Scots is a fantastic hotel in the middle of Killarney town which is perfect for ease of coming and going at night, no taxi's - which are very hard to get.
The rooms are a delight to stay in, beautifully decorated, big and spacious.
The ajoining bar has a great athmosphere, lots of fun and craic and nightly entertainment, very popular with the locals.
The hotel has a lovely bar menu which caters for all and the staff are well mannered and friendly.
Overall Scotts is second to none and I would highly recommend it.

We stayed this weekend at Scotts and were pleasantly surprised by the rennovation. Were upgraded to an apartment suite which was really modern and spacious with great views of Killarney on 3rd floor.All for €100 for room for 2 ppl incl breakfast.

However there were a few probs...
Door to balcony was left open with no key to lock and other rooms would have access to our room from the balcony.They locked it when we complained and that spoiled our access to balcony as they didnt leave key.

Also in the morning our shower had no water and there was very little water coming from the sink taps. Had to make breakfast before 10 so were quite anxious to shower first. After complaining twice we were eventually allowed to use another room down the corridor which was quite annoying. The excuse was that our shower wouldn't work if the person next door was using his!!

When we got down for breakfast we had to wait about 15 mins for a table to be available though I doubt the hotel was full- need more tables.

all in all we wouldnt have paid more than the basic low season price we paid.
