“its cheap for a reason!”

Travelodge Manchester Central

2 of 5 stars
melbourne / manchester
Dec 26, 2007

Well you cant find a much cheaper hotel unless you're prepared to check into a hostal! But its true, you get what you pay for. Some travelodges are quite bright and cheerful with good quality newly refurbished rooms. This travelodge however is quite depressing! I arrived at 10am so needed to store my luggage. they said due to security they coudnt do this. apprently this is procedure in all travelodge's! So i was left waiting along with other customers in the lobby for a couple of hours until the rooms were available. Try you're hardest not to get a room on a high floor. when i was there only one of the 2 lifts were working, which meant a looooooooooong wait for a lift, so i just took the stairs most days! The room was preety dirty to say the least, although the linen and towels appeared clean. the tv reception was a bit dodgy. depending on where you stay in the hotel, will depend on the quality of some channels. The parking was a nightmare unless you have a small car, but is very cheap.
So all in all, unless you can get a cheap room (19 or 26 quid a night) i really woudnt bother. Pay slightly more and you'll get a much better experience. And whatever you do, DO NOT take you're partner here!!!! They will not appreciate it!

“Good Value Clean Hotel”

Travelodge Manchester Central

Dec 23, 2007

We Stayed in this Travel Lodge as other guests had, to go to the Take That Concert and found the hotel to be very good value very central and our family room was huge, it included tea and coffee a kettle ,colour TV,our room had a view over the canal we stayed for 2 nights and the room was very quiet at night.
As there was 3 of us in this family room it worked out at about £23.00 each a night, i think this is fantastic value for a city hotel and would stay again.

“Great Value, and cosy.”

My husband and i went to this travelodge basically because it was very close to the MEN arena to see take that. It was 5 mins walk. The rooms which are pictured on trip advisor as correct. They do however have tea making facilities and coffee. We were charged £61.00 for the night and was well worth it. The beds were so comfy, i didnt want to get out. We were told some of the cast of Coronation Street went there, so we knew it would be ok. Staff on reception were curtious, and the breakfast was all you could eat for £7 pp, very nice too. Breakfast consists of usual juices, all varieties of tea, scrambled egg, sausage, mushrooms, toms, bread, and cereal.

My daughter loves travelodges, i know why, very warm, cosy, hot water and quiet. Yes we would stay again when coming up for a gig. You will not find anywhere nearer to the arena.

“No complaints”

Travelodge Manchester Central

Dec 11, 2007

Stayed the night for Take That concert at MEN arena ,5 mins walk from MEN so very handy .
Arrived at teatime and was offered a twin room instead of the double one that was booked . Reception man was very helpful and pleasant so we decided to go for the twin room .
Room had disabled access so it was very spacious - twin beds - sofa - flat screen tv - coffee/tea making facilities with kettle. No problems with stay - bed was sooo comfy good nights sleep .No noise at night would definately return.

“Why will they not store luggage and why are the staff so rude?”

Travelodge Manchester Central

Reception staff are for the most part surly at best and rude at worst.

These hotels are cheap but clean; when you stay in a UK Travelodge you know you are not getting a bargain, rather you're paying top dollar, for a room which frankly is rather depressing.
The room seems to have all the right inclusions yet overall the place feels like a boy scout camp.

We planned to spend our last day wandering around the Arndale shopping mall but the hotel WILL NOT STORE ANY LUGGAGE!

So we abandoned Manchester and got the early bus to Liverpool; what choice did we have, with 3 heavy suitcases?
