We had a girlie weekend planned in Paris, and booked a non-smoking twin room for two nights over the internet having read on Expedia that this hotel was one of their recommended choices iro 3 star establishments - recently refurbished with friendly staff.
So, the good thing about this hotel is..........the location - very central.
But, the bad things.........far outweigh that one positive thing. For example:-
1) The decor beyond the reception itself was shocking - paper peeling off the walls, damp patches on the ceiling of corridors, and pretty much original 1960's elsewhere.
2) We had booked a twin room because we were 2 girls away for the weekend but were told that they only had double rooms so we had to share a bed, but they promised us that the following night a twin room would be available. (By the way the room was so small you pretty much fell onto the bed when you opened the door!)
3) We had also specifically booked a non-smoking room because my friend has asthma - we were told they only had smoking rooms, so we would have to put up with it, but not to worry the following night they would find us a non-moking room. (The room felt grubby and was very smelly - haven't they heard of Neutradol in France?)
4) And guess what, on the second night, they didn't have any twin or non-smoking rooms, and we ended up in a room with one double bed and a camp bed (we were told we should be grateful there were 2 beds in the room), and it was still a smoking room. My poor friend didn't manage to grab more than a couple of hours sleep per night due to her asthma being so exacerbated by the smoke in the rooms).
Overall, a pretty unpleasant experience all-round, but our main gripe has to be with the "friendly"hotel staff who blatantly told us a pack of lies with very straight faces (about our having the sort of room on the second night that we had dared to book - ie a non-smoking twin), probably because we had pre-paid for the the room and knew that they had us over a barrel unless we were prepared to find another hotel at very short notice and effectively pay again for the accommodation elsewhere.
Very much a "half star" rather than a "three-star" experience. Steer well clear.
