“Awful hotel - lowest point of our trip!”

We stayed in this hotel several years ago, but because it is probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, I decided to go ahead and write a review even though our trip wasn't recent. We booked this hotel through a travel agent in Germany - it was kind of a last minute decision to go to Paris so we didn't have time to research hotels. We realized it was only a 2 star hotel, but we figured we wouldn't be spending much time in the room anyway, so it was no big deal. Wrong. This hotel was absolutely awful. The place was a complete dump. The wall paper was peeling off - it just looked like everything was falling apart. They may have remodeled since we stayed there. It was noisy at night. Even though we stayed on the third floor, we could still hear people talking LOUDLY and laughing in the lobby area throughout the ENTIRE night - and these were the people WORKING in the lobby, not just guests - it was like they were totally oblivious to the fact that other people were trying to sleep. We couldn't get any sleep partly because of all the noise and partly because the beds were very uncomfortable - it was like sleeping on cots. We ended up in a room with 2 small beds that my husband and I had to push together. I can't remember if all their rooms had these beds or if we just couldn't get a king or queen size due to availability. The bathroom in our room was the absolute worst. It was filthy and smelled of mildew and we had to keep the door shut tight so we didn't smell it in the room. It would disgust me to even walk into the bathroom, much less take a shower standing in the nasty tub. Concierge services were also quite lacking. The hotel is close to the bus stop and you can get around to the Metro and other areas pretty easily, but don't count on the concierge to guide you. Also, there aren't many great restaurants close by, so it's not like you could just walk out at night and find a nice place to eat within walking distance. I would never stay in this hotel again.

We stayed at this hotel last week. The room was small but very clean, maid was in every day. Lady and young guy we met were very helpful.Older man was of no help, told us to use metro on busiest day of the week to go to Sacre Coeur. When we asked the younger guy he gave us directions and we were there in 10 mins. Bus stop right outside the door and brings you into the centre of Paris. Gare Du Nord station just 5 mins walk. There was a small late night grocery shop up the road from hotel they were very nice. We woul def stay there again.

“Terrible hotel”

We stayed here for two nights last week. The first night the room is face to street. All night traffic noisy made us can not sleep. The bathroom is very tiny. As we request the manager changed our room to another side, which is quite. The bathroom is also better then the first one, but the sink is leak, one chair’s leg is broken…
There are many hotels near here you can search. This one absolutely is not good choice.

“Charming, good for the price, good location”

Maubeuge Hotel

We got the room through Hostels.com for 4 of us--my folks and my husband and I. It was better than we hoped. We had the top floor which gave us 2 separate bedrooms--separated by the bathroom. And one room had a little balcony with the view of the Eiffel Tower. The other room had a window with a view of our neighborhood.
There is a small elevator which holds 2 people or 1 person & luggage. Similar to some elevators in Vienna or the rest of Europe (what do you expect with old buildings).
It was clean and cheap for the 4 of us.
It was about 5 blocks or so, from Gare du Nord. There was a public parking place right around block for our rental car. The public bus to the Louvre passed nearby.
It was charming and old. The staff were friendly and helpful.

“Cheap and nasty”

Not what we expected at all. Upon arriving at the hotel, there was noone in the reception, eventually the bar lady came over and tried to help us. Couldnt find our booking then eventually did. We had booked a twin room, but all they had was a small double bed. The lift was tiny barely one of us could fit.
No telephone, coffee maker and a Tv that just worked. The bathroom was tiny. You couldnt turn around in it. No shower curtain and only a hand held shower head. The 2 tiny towels were old and hardly dried you.
With no airconditioning, we had to keep the window open to keep cool and get rid of the smell of the room. This however meant we had to put up with the noise of the streets.
The only thing this place has going for it is its a 5 minute walk to Gare de Nord.
It was a bed, we slept somewhat. Dont expect anything more.
