I found this hotel clean and quiet and everything I expected for paying £44 per room per night. The staff were friendly and helpful. Whilst it is not close to any of the main tourist spots it is very close to the metro. The station is on 3 lines so it's really easy to get around. In addition there are lots of places to eat within minutes of the hotel.
The rooms are a bit on the small side and the bathroom is very small but for the price it cannot be faulted.

Good location to explore Paris from because there is a metro station just 5 minutes away, there are also a handful of bars and restaurants near the hotel that were nice. The room was quite small with a very small bathroom but you get what you pay for and all in all this was reasonable and clean given the price. I wouldn't bother getting breakfast as you can pick up freshly made croissants for less than a euro.

I stayed here in early May, 2007, paying 64 euros for a single room. The room was sunny and attractive, with a big window that opened onto the Place. The bed was comfortable and the room was well-maintained, clean and neat. The room and bathroom were small, but typical for a two-star hotel in Paris. The staff ranged from polite/professional to downright jolly. Some but not all spoke English, but they were all pleasant and we communicated easily. The neighborhood is far from the big tourist sites, but it is steps to the Metro, and I enjoyed gettting away from the tourist crush. I would definitely stay here again.

Came across this hotel through a hotel search engine (Venere, I think.) My husband and I wanted a nice place to stay in a good location, but since we were traveling throughout Europe for 2 weeks we couldn't afford to stay at the noteworthy 4-star hotels.

We had a very pleasant stay for 3 nights at the Hotel de la Place des Alpes. The room/bathroom were TINY, but very clean and well appointed (satellite TV, telephone, and a very fast Internet connection for an extra 5 Euro per day). Only thing missing was a hair dryer, but that was no big deal since I had my own.

The hotel had a lift and offered breakfast, which we did not partake in because we preferred to visit the boulangeries.

The staff were very friendly, although many did not speak much English. However, when we had a personal issue arise in the middle of the night, the night clerk was very helpful despite the language barrier.

The neighborhood around the Place d'Italie metro stop is lively, and seems safe. It's a short walk to the hotel from the metro so it was quite convenient. The metro stop has 3 lines so you can get to most areas of the city with minimal connections.

Overall, this is a good place to stay for the price (we paid 64 Euros per night). No, it's not luxurious, but I did not mind coming home to this hotel at the end of the day.
