We read about the queues at the palace of Versailles and thought it was a good idea to stay in town for 2 days to beat the crowds. We got a pretty good deal through a dutch internetsite including breakfast (= smart thing to do, otherwise it'll cost you EUR 27.)

Reception area is very modern, staff is nice. Parking garage is very conveniently located under hotel and saves you a lot of hassle.

For a small fee we got an upgrade to a luxury room which was really nice with a very large comfortable bed.

The good thing about the hotel is its location. From the entrance you can see the palace of Versailles which is about a five minute walk. We bought a ticket in the touristinformationshop next to the hotel which saves you one long line for the tickets! And because you don't need to travel from Paris, you can be there relatively early, so we entered the palace within 30 minutes after opening!

The palace was really impressive. Even our five year old daughter liked it because she imagined the princesses dancing in the big mirrorhall. The gardens were large but not as landscaped as I had expected.

Another big attraction was the village of Versailles. Leaving the hotel, you walk straight to it (keep Versailles at your left hand). There are a lot of nice shops and it feels like you are in the South of France. It is so different from Paris which is only 15 kilometres away. Especially at the market there are a lot of cosy restaurants and on sunday they have a very nice fresh food market.

It would not have been worth the official rack rate of EUR 475. But for the price we paid a very good experience!

Great location - 2 minutes from train station and 5 minutes from Palace. Walk out front door and turn left - the palace is maybe 400 m down the street.

Very good overall value. Very comfortable bed. Bathroom was clean, adequate space, and above average toiletries provided by hotel.

Helpful, friendly staff. Room was serviced frequently - it seemed like each time we left the hotel, the bed was made, the towels hung up, or curtains closed.

Front desk staff offered good local restaurant suggestions & made reservations for us too. We did not try the hotel restaurant, not even for breakfast because we thought the price was too high.

For dining out, I highly recommend Au Chien Qui Fume located in the market square about 10 minute walk north of hotel. Good food & good wine with excellent service. English speaking staff ( at least two people did) and offer English menu too.

Take time to explore the market one day - a fascinating place to browse for cheese, wine, bread, and meats.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights Jan 2008 and found this hotel most agreeable. The room was quiet and confortable even though it faced the main road outside. The restaurant food was excellent, and parking is surprisingly easy (although expensive). Recommended if you're visiting the Palace at Versailles or just don't want to deal with Parisian traffic.

My wife and I stayed at the now Pullman hotel in Versailles just before christmas this year as the Trianon Palace was closed for refurbishment.

The reception and public areas downstairs are very modern and nice if you like that kind of thing (personally when in Versailles I prefer a bit of French Tradition so its not really mine) and the late night staff who checked us in were very friendly and helpful and even upgraded our room for us.

Stepping out of the lift on the third floor was a bit of a shock as you soon realise that the only part of the hotel that is modern is the reception area! Upstairs we are talking seriously dated and fairly worn and the rooms are exactly the same. The bathrooms are old and small and the rooms have got that definate 80's feel to them.

We had some serious problems during our stay that included me having to phone reception four times from 8:00am - 10:00am in one morning to ask them to stop the workmen in the room next door to us using a loud hammer and drill. I was especially shocked (if not surprised knowing france as I do) that the manager failed to call me back to apologise or make ammends and in general I just felt like the staff didn't really care too much about what was going on. In the end my wife (who is French) got out of bed and went to ask the workmen to stop, having been told by the reception that the work was happening on the street!

If you are going to stay in Versailles stay at the Triannon Palace (even though that is even more modern than this place after its face lift!!). I would stay at the Pullman again if I had to, but only if I HAD to!
