“Great value for money”

Acanthe du Temple Hotel

Apr 28, 2008

At 50 euros a night for a large double room the Acanthe du Temple was money well spent. Booked this place on the basis of the reasonable reviews on TA and was not let down. OK, the wall paper leaves a little to be desired and the whole place is a tad dated, but on a good day, that just adds to the character. And its location means that the old town and all the sights are on your doorstep anyway so no need for sitting in your room wondering what to do. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast at 7 euros was perferct and everywhere was very clean. So if you're not too concerend about the decor or don't strive for a room with the latest flat screen TV and monsoon shower then this 2 star town centre hotel is perfect. PS don't be put off be the photos - again, think about character!!

One final thing - NImes itself is well worth a visit. A charming town, easy navigatable, not overrun with hordes of tourists and enough sites, bars and cafes for a few days. we will return

“Pretty good place to stay and well located”

Acanthe du Temple Hotel

This is an ideal place to stay in Nimes, inside the old city. Room was spacious with good en-suite facilities and very clean and good value. Breakfast is standard continental and quite OK. Service was OK, but be sure to reconfirm your reservation a week or so beforehand (hotel is very popular).

“Great French hotel in perfect location”

Hotel Acanthe du Temple is a great French hotel in a location that allows walking to all the Roman sites, museums and cafes in the old city of Nimes. The rooms are spotless; the staff is friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

“Good clean hotel in a central location”

Acanthe du Temple Hotel

I recently stopped here for two nights on a city break. The hotel is a good base to see the city due to its central location. The main attractions are only a five minute walk away and shops/restaurants are on the doorstep. However it was also quiet at nights.

The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We booked direct with the hotel with no problems encountered. We did not take breakfast so can't comment on it.

This hotel suited our needs perfectly and I I would not hesitate to stay here again.

“Basic - but very clean”

Just come back from 4 nights at the acanthe du temple hotel in nimes. The room was very basic but very clean.
The position was the best thing about it. Walk round the corner and you are in the main shopping street. Can't comment on breakfast as we walked round the corner to Chez Sylvie (a small friendly cafe)
Caught the bus from the airport and it stopped outside Station then made several stops in town. Caught a train twice - once to Avignon and next day to Montpelier - both destinations took about 30 minutes.
We found that it was best to eat early afternoon as at night the restaurants tend to be a bit expensive. At lunchtime a lot do specials with a plat du jour. We had a 3 course meal with a glass of wine and coffee for about 30 euros for the two of us.
On the whole this was a lovely break and providing you watch where you eat it won't break the bank.
