“Home From Home”

Chateau La Tour Apollinaire

We have stayed here on several occasions this year and would highly recommend others to do so!

The hotel is peaceful, with beautiful gardens and a clean, inviting pool area. We stayed in individually designed, tasteful and comfortable rooms, all with personal touches which enhanced the stay.

Breakfast is delicious, varied and served at the time you require it.

Elena and Robin are excellent proprietors - they afford a warm welcome and are very friendly to approach if you need anything. We have stayed at other hotels in the area prior to this one but would always choose to stay here above the rest. Looking forward to our next visit!

Alison and Stuart.

“Noisy floors spoiled our stay in Chateau La Tour Appollinaire”

Chateau La Tour Apollinaire

This hotel has an unacceptable noise problem. The floorboards in the room above ours creaked loudly with every movement and people could be heard moving about all the time- which was excruciating as they were wearing mules and were up till the wee small hours, then clip-clopping again at 7am. This spoiled what would otherwise have been an enjoyable stay, as we were exhausted the day after this nocturnal torture. We did not complain as we could envisage no immediate solution, but can't understand why the owners do not deal with this obvious problem. The hotel is nicely decorated, the garden and pool are delightful and the receptionist was extremely helpful. The computer is very very slow and the sound system and screen size for the dvd player made it unusable, but these are minor blips. Because of the potential noise we wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone else.

Stayed here for 6 nights in June. Beautiful building and gardens with very well furnished large bedrooms. Staff very helpful and breakfast is very good. Make sure to ask Dee the receptionist for directions to the 'giant sun capturing machine' - aka the solar furnace! I highly recommend La Tour for your stay in Perpignan.

“Little oasis on the edge of the city”

Chateau La Tour Apollinaire

We have just returned from Perpignan and have enjoyed our stay in this chateau immensely. As other guests have mentioned - the chateau is in a suburb of the city which is a little undesirable but nothing to worry about. It is like many other cities in that respect. That is real life.! However, it only takes 10 minutes to walk to the old quarter and leaving the car at the chateau is a plus.

The chateau is gorgeous - every detail speaks quality. We were informed that our apartment was to be shared with other people but in the event we had it all to ourselves.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and could not fault them.

After a day in Perpignan it was a real treat to return to this little oasis - and that is what it truly is!!!!

We chose to have breakfast in our lovely kitchen and would recommend the local patissierie just 200mts away from the chateau - lovely apple tart and crepes!

“Disappointed Holiday at this hotel”

Chateau La Tour Apollinaire

May 5, 2008

We are just back from my holiday in Perpignon and I stayed with my husband in this hotel for 6 nights.

The hotel is pretty with a nice garden but it is located in a small area in the middle of council places ( Very unpleasant area) and I have seen people selling drugs at night.

We were extremely disappointed to know that we had to share our flat with other couples during the week we stayed. We were not made aware when we booked. All the 3 couples who shared the flat with us were surprised also.

During our 6 nights nobody has been to clean the place and I had to ask for new towels.

Be very careful once you book one room, it is inside a flat and you will have to share kitchen and livening space with other people and this is not clearly stated in the web site, we felt very much to be mislead by the owner.

Also there is a huge TV but we can only watch video with it you can’t watch TV and the water by the swimming pool was freezing.

Finally in Perpignon there is nothing much to see 1 night and definitely ok but 6 nights it is too much. It is better to go in the coast by the seaside.

This hotel is overpriced and we went there because of the reviews we read in Trip advisor but there are many better places where you can spend your holiday!

Management Response

This guest left La Tour Apollinaire with a smile on her face and thanked our receptionist for her stay. When she booked the Sauterne room she was told both in writting and over the telephone that it shares a lounge, a kitchen and a big terrace with one other room. This fact was again explained to the guest when they were checked-in by our receptionist though for the first two nights of their stay the other room was not occupied. When a couple arrived to check into the room next door this guest complained about having to share the facilities (100 m2 of lounge, kitchen and terrace which in a typical boutique hotel would normally be shared by up to 30 rooms) and it was explained to her again that she had booked a room, not an entire apartment (150 m2) at which point she became abusive towards our receptionist who reported to me that the guest had threatened to go on Tripadvisor to complain about having to share the facilities. For guests who want totally private lounge, kitchen and dining facilities we offer two 1 bedroomed apartments which this guest could have booked.

This guest also complained that their towels and bed linen had not been changed and as a sign of good will we gave her a free set of towels. It is clear from our website front page that we are a self-catering establishment and that guests requiring extra towels, bed linen and room cleaning can use these services for a small fee.

Our swimming pool is heated to a constant temperature of 26 degrees C throughout the season and all our guests comment on how warm it is.

As for the complaints about social housing and "having seen drug dealers on the streets in Perpignan", I can only advise this guest that attractive destinations like Barcelona, Mallorca, Cannes etc. and even London where she lives are no different so this complaint seems a bit strange to us.

We are commited to ensuring all our guests have a wonderful stay with us and will continue to provide very high level of service and advice - Perpignan and Pyrenees Orientales remain one of the most popular destinations in France and their charm awaits all cosmopolitan travellers with open minds.
