This hotel is situated in a mainly pedestrian thoroughfare although taxis are still able to get to it. The location allows for walks though the town and around the surrounding areas which are beautiful. The magnificent cathedral (as good as the Notre Dame in my opinion) is just around the corner as well as the markets and fabulous restaurants. The concierge's recommendations on where to eat (for a family of 4) were exactly what we needed. The down side to our stay there was that there really was no view (we looked out onto a dirty rooftop), the kids room had a smell in it but wasn't too bad and the bathrooms only had a hand held shower nozzle in a bath. Apart from this however, we would be happy to stay at the Grand Hotel in Metz again.
