Stayed here as part of a Crusader package tour. Bedrooms very good; clean and comfortable. However the main hotel building only houses the bedrooms and lobby it seems. No facilities for a drink of cup of anything. The restaurant is a walk away as is the bar and cafe. This was the main bone of contention, Not good if the weather is poor as it was when I stayed here. Going outside to walk to dinner in the pouring rain is not ideal.
The restaurant is very pleasant but food is average, portions adequate but wouldn't suit a very big appetite! On our package there was no choice of menu unless you particularly didn't like something then often an omelette was offered as an alternative. For those not on this package there was plenty of choice. House wine was reasonable and good. Fortunately breakfast was served in the hotel proper and this was excellent. Another tour staying at the same time was not so fortunate and had to go outside to the main restaurant.
The location of the du Chateau is convenient for getting to the small town of Rocamadour. The funicular railway is just a short walk from the hotel entrance.. Those able to walk a bit further can explore the few shops closer to the hotel.
People should be aware that there is no lift.
Overall, given the choice, I probably would not return to the du Chateau. It served its purpose and was pleasant and safe.
