This hotel is fine if you you are a voyeur or like having no privacy. The bathroom had a louvered door, so hopefully if you are sharing the room with anyone you don't make any noises while in the bathroom. In addition, the bathroom had a huge window into the bedroom, although there was a window shade. I'm not really sure what the purpose of this window is unless you want to watch TV too while in the bathroom. Otherwise, the room was fine but nothing to write home about.

Although the hotel had internet access, you better be prepared to charge lots of money on your credit card. You could access internet through the "business center" in the lobby (privacy provided by a plant) only by using a credit card and the cost was outrageous -- It cost 12 euros for about 20 minutes.

Breakfast was available, but cost about 15 euros per person for a typical bread and jelly breakfast, so we opted to eat breakfast at neighborhood cafes. The location of the hotel was pretty good. There was a movie theater and lots of restuarants and cafes in walking distance. Unfortunately, construction was going on right near the hotel, which made it very difficult to drive to the hotel with all the one way streets and the construction detours. We eventually found our way to a parking garage (Victor Hugo)that just happened to be the closest one to the hotel. The hotel gave a discount on parking. if you stay at this hotel, don't bring more luggage than you can carry for about 500 yards because the construction makes it impossible to pull up in front of the hotel and drop off your bags.

This hotel is centrally located in Place Wilson and is easy to get to from the Jean Jaures stop for the airport shuttle, or from the railway station. It is close to sights and shops and, when the pedestrianisation of the Place is complete, will, I imagine, be in a quiet spot.

The hotel itself is very smart and is good value for money. The room was comfortable and very clean, and the bathroom was well equipped and a good size. Breakfast was not bad, though I doubt that I would have bothered with it if it hadn't been included in the rate. The hotel will look after your luggage when you check out, so that you can have a last look at the city.

Where this hotel really scores though is its staff who were unfailingly polite and helpful, always prepared to do that little bit extra to ensure that my stay was enjoyable.

I would recommend this hotel, and would stay there again.

I feel unusually qualified to review this hotel as I have lived in its apartments for a total of six months and stayed in its hotel rooms on many many occasions over the last three years (2003-2006). There are a lot of things about this hotel that are really impressive, pushing it above its local competition in the three-star range – but there are also many inconsistencies that keep it out of the four-star bracket. The plus points include the following.

A very professional team of staff from the maids, maintenance and especially at the reception desk & breakfast bar.

An excellent breakfast and extremely pleasant lounge & bar area.

Some great long-stay apartments with cooking facilities (though the best of them are hard to get as guests book a long way ahead).

One of the very best locations for a city hotel – right in the heart of Toulouse but just off the busy main streets in beautiful Place Wilson. Generally quiet; though try to avoid the side facing the Victor Hugo markets as the storeowners set up early and noisily!

The attached restaurant, Brasserie Le Capoul, is a good spot for seafood, though quite pricey. If you arrive early enough in the evening, the ‘plat de jour’ is usually very good value. There is a bar-restaurant on the other side of the hotel that I have not tried.

Some of the negatives include the following.

Inconsistent quality of rooms – something of a lottery between the truly lovely and the slightly depressing. If you arrive at a time when the hotel is not full, and are not happy with your room then don’t hesitate to ask to see another. It is my suspicion that some of the best rooms are kept aside to catch the passing trade of full rack-rate paying guests who did not book in advance.

No parking (though a discounted rate at a neighbouring Vinci multi-storey will save you some money).

No gym or additional amenities.

It is always my first choice for business in Toulouse and my family have stayed there on their visits to the city, so I can certainly recommend it. But I can also understand why some reviewers have had less than perfect experiences.

I stay in Toulouse once a year, and this was my first visit to the Holiday Inn. I enjoyed my stay, and I would recommend it to other business travelers, or couples who are on holiday. The location is right in the center of town, as the name suggests, and it's easy walking distance to a wide variety of restaurants and the university area. It's a longer walk to the train station, Canal du Midi, and river, but still reasonable.

Like some other European hotels, it appears to be a combination of apartments that have been joined together. Interior courtyards with glass ceilings allow natural light to enter the lobby and restaurant. There's a small bar in the lobby with cocktails and draft beer.

The rooms are quite small (normal by European standards) but clean, and the tub had a curtain, which is a relief to Americans who shower...
