We were in 601, the suite above the check in on the first floor. The room and hotel were pretty shopworn. Towels were stained, fixutres and furniture from another era. A little bit of renovation investment would go a long way as the building and location were just fine. Value (Euro 93 for the suite) was fair.

Our hotel in Paris was pretty bad, so this felt like a mansion in comparison, even though it was nothing compared to an American hotel. The staff was friendly for the most part. The rooms were well lit and clean. We stayed two nights in our first room and never had any problems. The third night we had some jerk in the room next to us that nearly shook the walls when he snored. We finally couldn't take it any longer and at midnight requested another room. The receptionist was very helpful and got us switched over. The bed was technically bigger (though just two twins pushed together), but the room was fine. The rooms were a good size too. The breakfast was part of our package and it was better than our hotel in Paris but still a typical European breakfast. The location was nice for walking around downtown Bayeux. My biggest complaint was their parking. If you parked on the street it was free. We parked there most every night because it was closer than their parking lot in the back which was not lit at all and made you feel like you were going to be mugged! We asked about the parking and asked if it was included or if we had to pay and they told us at reception that it was their car park, so no pay. When we checked out, we had to pay 9 Euro for ONE night of parking. We argued with them, but the lady was pretty rude about it. In America I would've refused to pay for it, but I wasn't getting anywhere with the French. Other than that the hotel itself was nice and not too bad of a location to get to the DDay beaches which is why we came to Normandy. If we do go again, we've discussed staying at one of the charming B&B's we saw along the way to the beaches that were closer, but this hotel was nice overall.

Hotel is in the town center, a five minute walk from the Cathedral and about 10 to the Tapestry. Booked the room on the on the Best Western website because their "Internet Special Early Rate" was cheaper than Expedia. Private car park for 8 Euros was a welcome sight on the narrow medieval streets. Check-in was pleasant and the young staff spoke sufficient English and were very helpful. The elevator took us to our room on the top floor (4th) so I was worried about the quality of the room. Pleasantly surprised by the beautiful decor and large Bathroom. Room was decent sized but the sloping roof beams to the left of the bed made the space unusable. The advantage to being up high was the room gave a beautiful view of the town, especially the Cathedral. Didn't eat at the hotel. All in all a pleasant stay and a decent price (59 Euro) per night. One word of caution, the hotel DeBrunville is attached to the pricier Hotel Luxembourg. Since I stayed in the off-season, my room was in the Luxembourg.

We used BW's book ahead to book this. There are 2 properties listed for Bayeux. We asked her to ring this one, the only accomodation was a suite. For one night, we thought this was a bit much, so we asked for the other - they are the same place, diffierent buildings, but with same owner and next to each other! We took the suite.
It's very nice. The only negative was the length of time to get our room. We were early, and were told it would be 2pm - that was okay with us. We came back about 2:30 or more to be told that it still wasn't ready. We went off again and did some shopping and it was ready the next time.
For a suite, it was nothing special. The room was huge, the bathroom equally so. But the bed was standard size, the shower was a nightmare to get working, adn while it had 3 shower heads, at least one of them was faulty, resulting in a totally soaked bathroom floor - which was so wet, it was dangerous to walk around.
There is a car park at the side (payable). There is a very nice little garden at the side, and we sat out here as it was so lovely.
We loved Bayeux and would go back - but maybe not to this hotel. There is nothing wrong with it, and maybe we were looking for too much almospshere - but the rest of Bayeux is so great, it's hard not to
