The Hotel Churchill appears to be a rather popular hotel, and why not? It's ideally situated, smack dab in the middle of Bayeux, an easy stroll to this pleasant town's two main - and unmissable - sites: the cathedral and Bayeux Tapestry. What's more, the town itself is perfectly situated for excursions to Normandy's countless and compelling D-Day sites, and a day trip to Mont St. Michel is well within reach.
The Churchill itself is a fine, well run hotel. Our two-night stay last August featured a comfortable room, with views of the town's evocative cathedral (especially striking at night). The management at the Churchill is one of the hotel's best features, offering friendly, helpful service. You'll feel welcome as soon as you arrive.
There are several other noteworthy features about the Churchill. The hotel has an attractive breakfast room which doubles as a lounge, with numerous libations on offer. Breakfasts at the Churchill were ample and quite satisfactory, but there is an additional charge. Still, the Churchill provides three-star comfort at reasonable prices. Attached to the hotel is a small and charming gift shop, and this review wouldn't be complete without mentioning the hallways of the hotel, featuring countless framed photos dating from the Battle of Normandy. These were most interesting.
In conclusion, should you be considering a stay in Normandy, do consider the friendly confines of the Hotel Churchill.
