Generally this is a very good pleasant hotel 10 minute walk from the town centre. We enjoyed staying there and the room service breakfast was phenomenal.

There is only one downside; as the hotel is situated in a parkland area which is pleasant during the day, coming back at night can be quite scary particularly if you are a lone female traveller and is it very isolated and quiet.

La Rochelle appears very safe as we saw a number of people leaving there cars with the engines running with keys still in the ignition, so it is probably ok but my wife was worried about security for lone female travellers.

If you're planning on driving to La Rochelle I would definitely recommend this hotel. It's reasonably easy to get to and there is a large free car park outside the hotel. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk from the centre and quay where all the shops, bars and restaurants are located. Quite expensive (about £100 per night) but the room was modern and clean. Don't bother with breakfast as there are loads of places within walking distance that are better and cheaper. Also, if using Google Maps to locate this hotel, the hotel position shown on the map is incorrect. It's actually approx 200m west on the other side of the river (but still on Avenue de la Porte Neuve).

We would agree with last few reviewers--this is a comfortable quiet hotel in a good location (about 15 mins walk from town centre or the harbour ) with parking just enough for Aug when hotel was full.Breakfast was fine.Rooms were clean and comfortable--ours overlooked the park and although there is a road near the hotel going through the park the room was still quiet.
Only disappointment was the pool layout---there are only a few sunbeds ( less than a dozen and no chairs )and because of very limited space around the pool only about 4 or 5 could be in the sun .We felt the hotel should redo the outside area--perhaps move the bar fence or remove the table tennis table so as to allow more sunbeds and chairs near the pool.
On a positive note the reception staff (particularly Caroline )was very helpful both before and during our stay.Also there was free internet access in the lobby which we appreciated as we did not see any internet cafes in La Rochelle .
