“Yep, its perfect”

Grand Hotel Mercure Aix en Provence Roi Rene

London

I had some reservations booking with accor, expecting a standard chain hotel but was pleasantly surprised. Feels more like a boutique hotel set in a leafy part of Provence city a close walk to the main bit.

The room was great, probably one of the best I've stayed in, although the toilet smelled of smoke and this was meant to be a non smoking room. Suppose that is France though.

The staff were competent (also a surprise) and we even were tempted to have a swim in their pool (not a resort style pool, but well above average for a city hotel).

Highly recommended.

“Perfect!”

I loved this hotel! The rooms were clean and there was a huge shower (by European standards). The sheets were crisp with plush pillows. It was very quiet even during the daytime. The front desk staff were very nice and informative. There is a carpark under the hotel for an additional charge. It, the carpark, was very well lit. We had only booked 1 night there but we liked it so much we extended our stay by 2 more days!

“Lovely 5 night stay...”

Perfect location as it is very quiet and located a short stroll away from the Cours Mirabeau. We were on the 2nd floor overlooking the pool, although none of the rooms had a balcony, which would have been nice.
The pool is lovely and clean with bar service and the staff are pleasant.
Bed was huge and comfortable with spotless white linen and the room was cleaned to a high standard every day; with lots of soaps, shampoo, lotion in the shower room and two lovely fluffy white dressing gowns.
We had breakfast the first morning which was buffet style and delicious, however at 36 euros for two we decided to head into town to the pavement cafe's who were offering 'Petit Dejeuner' for 6euros 50. A much better experience as we could sit in the sun and watch the world go by.
If you are looking for a typically Provencal style hotel, this isn't it but it was lovely to come back to and very comfortable at the end of the day.

“quiet & comfy”

We had the promotional rate of 120 euro per room without breakfast. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. We were on the 1st floor. The hallway leading from the lift to our hotel door was disappointing. Our floor had not been renovated like the other floors. It felt like we were in a different hotel! The people at the desk were helpful providing us with a map of the city when we arrived.

“Best hotel fof our 2 week stay in Provence”

Grand Hotel Mercure Aix en Provence Roi Rene

4 of 5 stars
Ft. Lauderdale
Oct 8, 2006

This was the most pleasantly tourist oriented hotel that we stayed in . Good sized room, great comfy bed, and nice bathroom with large fluffy towels. Had a mini bar, but we put or own wine in to chill. KUDOS for BBC and CNN,,,it was greatly appreciated. Aix is wonderful, but we stayed here for 2 nights and it was enough IMO. The halls could use a bit of updating, and the carpet in the rooms needs a little TLC, but we were VERY comfortable there, anf that was the most important thing to us.
