“Good Value”

Hotel Le Cloitre

4 of 5 stars
Derby, United Kingdom
Jun 9, 2008

We chose this hotel for our final few nights of a touring holiday in Provence on the basis of previous reviews and were pleased that we did. Our criteria were a clean, comfortable bedroom, breakfast and parking and this hotel had all of these, and at a reasonable price. We also thought the property had a lot of character.

On arrival Jean Francois met us and parked the car in the courtyard car park behind the hotel. He also retrieves the car for you each time you want to go out. Since to park the car requires reversing around a big tree in a tight area and then going through a fairly narrow archway into an old courtyard, to not have to park the car was quite a relief! The streets generally in the old town are very narrow with very tight corners.

Our room was a good size with a comfortable bed and large window overlooking the road. There was some street noise but nothing that stopped us from sleeping despite being there on a Saturday night with a rock concert on in the town. The bathroom was small but adequate although a shower fixture on the wall instead of being hand-held over the bath would have been nice.

Breakfasts were sufficient - baguette, croissant, jam, orange juice and coffee.

Jean Francois was friendly and helpful in an unobtrusive way.

We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for 3 lovely nights in early May 2008. I would absolutely come back again. Our room was delightful, plenty of room for 3 people and a nice modern bathroom. The courtyard out front was a splendid place to while away the afternoon, whilst enjoying a bottle of wine and a fresh baguette! This hotel was simply parfait!

“A delightful hotel”

We found the Hotel Le Cloitre quite delightful. The location is superb, the staff is very warm and friendly and helpful and the building is old but entirely workable. About the only drawback (for elderly travelers like ourselves) is the lack of an elevator but we would certainly choose this hotel again.

We were sent to this hotel when the one we wanted was full. Service was grumpy and we got yelled at several times. Room felt cavelike and cold.

“relaxed and welcoming”

Hotel Le Cloitre

May 3, 2008

We stayed four nights in April and were overwhelmed with the friendliness, helpfulness of the staff and of the beauty of Arles & Le Cloitre....
we had a second floor double...need to be fit to do those stairs..it had a great view of the Old Town . Breakfast of very fresh croissants, baguettes, jams and marmalade , hot beverages and juice in a lovely setting...
Location was perfect ; quiet at night and a gentle downhill ten minute walk to the train station.
Close to the Tourist Info , all Roman sites, parks , grocery store, souvenir shops , Irish Pub. but none of these are visible from Le Cloitre. It is on a narrow stone building lined street around the corner from the amphitheatre, the church of Ste. Trophine and a lovely restful garden.
Monsiuer Mc D.'s was a stone's throw away for late night snacks.
Free internet use at the Hotel Calendal for the price of a grande café creme; great value with the Monument Pass for most of Arles Historic sights. We would highly recommend this hotel .
