Spent 3 idyllic days at the Mas in June2006 . Our stay was exceptional in every way.
We came from Paris to Avignon on the TGV and rented a car to drive to the Camargue. Note that although most car rental companies in at the Avignon TGV or Arles TGV stations will let you book an automatic on line, there is a chronic shortage of those vehicules and you may have to fight a while to get one. Saw 3 other US parties in that situation. We had to settle with an automatic minivan instead of our automatic Mercedes sedan and did not get any discounts.
We arrived at the Mas in late afternoon and although the kitchen was closed, they prepared us a nice platter of cheese, strawberries and cherries which we ate poolside with an exceptional bottle of wine. Set dinner menu was outstanding. Try to reserve a table in the kitchen itself and let them know earlier in the day if there are items you cannot eat. Both Lucille and Jacques Bon came to check on us and chat at our table. Lucille's english is great but speaking French with Jacques is a better idea! Our room was the duplex one with bathroom on the second floor but that made it even more romantic and rustic. Beautiful bathtub!
We went on a 2h horse ride organized by the hotel which was a lot of fun but remember to use lots of bug repellent. Horse flies will still sting through the thickest jeans! No mosquitoes in June but we were told to watch out starting July.
The highlight of our stay was a special bullfighting event organized by Mr Bon on location. This was great because there were no scheduled bullfighting in the area during our stay. We first got to watch the "Gardians" round up some bulls and we got to help branding them and even received a piece of one bull's ear... Makes a nice key ring attachement. Then we got to see a demonstration of the bullfighting in a traditional wooden arena on location. Yes, no bulls put to death or stabbed with pikes like in Spain but still pretty bloody when the bulls jump the fence and collide with the wall.
The Mas location was ideal to explore Arles and the Camargue. On the one night were dinner was not available at the Mas we tried a restaurant in Arles. The hotel receptionists were very helpful throughout our stay and set everything up for us whenever we needed it. That made our visits to restaurants and attractions even more enjoyable since we were always given special attention just for being referred by the Mas de Peint!
