“Great Hotel”

Hotel Particulier

the Hotel was beautiful--calm, serene with a great courtyard. The room was huge and very clean--nice bed linens, nice towels, great bathrobes. Plenty of room. It was very clean. It was the best hotel on our trip.

It was also very convenient to walk into centre ville. All the restaurants and cafes were within walking distance.

They had free internet which was nice.

The resturant recommendations they made were very good.

The hotel was a little hard to find.

The room rate was reasonable for a hotel of this quality. However, everything else was extremely expensive.

They charged around 20 Euros a day for parking (don't remember if it was 18 or 21 exactly). That was not mentioned anywhere when we were making our reservation. We were there for 4 nights--so an extra 80 Euros adds up. There was a parking garage in the center of town that was 5 Euros from about 5PM until 10AM the next morning. Considering we were using our car during the day to drive and explore the area--there was no need to pay 20 Euros a day to park our car there when this garage was so close.

The courtyard at the hotel was gorgeous and calm. They have a nice lap pool. However, food and drinks were super expensive. I know you expect to pay more at a hotel. We very much would have sat in the courtyard for breakfast or drinks--but to pay three to four times what I would pay when I could walk two minutes to a cafe for the same glass of wine?

Overall a great hotel and I would return. Just be prepared for things at the hotel to be expensive and/or be prepared to leave the hotel for breakfast and drinks.

The hotel was an oasis, the setting beautiful and serene. It is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. Our room was gorgeous, and each room is unique. And the bed (a king size) was very comfortable. The bathroom was plush with one of the most comfortable bathtubs I’ve ever used. Based on past postings we didn’t eat breakfast (too pricey) but were happy that they had parking.

“Great city hotel - relaxed vibe and well located”

A rare 5 star give, but it is worth it. The Hotel Particulier is a wonderful relaxed city hotel, set amid a private countyard of gardens with nice rooms, well deocrated and great bathrooms - all incorporated into rather quirky old townhouses. The staff are very accommodating, perfectly pitching recommendations for dinner and other activities for us. The vibe is very relaxed but underscoring it all is a well run hotel, if you ask for something it gets done and this makes the whole stay ever more relaxing.

Will return!

I wish we'd had more than one night to enjoy this hotel. It is indeed "odd"- no doubt not for everyone!
Our "junior suite" was divided among a warren of hallways. The bath had a wonderful huge tub.
My ideal would be to try each and every room!
Some of the staff was more "sympathetic" than others. They were kind enough to allow us to leave our luggage and car while we had a lengthy lunch in town after checking out.
The hotel does offer free WIFI (weefee- as they say in France). Just ask!

“Perfect”

My wife and I spent five nights in this hotel in August of this year with our eleven month old son. I can honestly say that it was one of the finest and nicest hotels that I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The staff were welcoming, warm and attentive. On the rare occasion that the service was a little slow that was entirely understandable as it is a small boutiique hotel not an international business hotel.

The hotel is decorated beautifully in a crisp modern style that somehow manages to preserve the character of the eighteenth century building. Bed linens, bathroom fixtures, furnishings were all of the standard that one would expect in a 5 star palace hotel. Breakfast, which did cost extra, was superb.

I suppose the best way to sum it up would be to say that 5 nights in Arles makes you ready to move on - five nights in the L'Hotel Particulier makes you never want to leave.
