This was a nice hotel with good sized rooms let down by the service. The hotel was advertised as having a sauna which was important as Arles in November is not sunny. However when the bill arrived there was a charge of 135Eu for the sauna/steam room having been used twice (and it was not even hot!). After some argument they reduced this to 85 Eu but it was effectively over £1 per person per minute.
This was then compounded by the fact that the taxi we ordered did not arrive - and we were charged 16.50 Eu for a taxi to pick us up from the hotel (ie over the cost of the journey itself). Be warned ....
Generally we had difficulties getting both to and from the airport - I would suggest hiring a car.

“Gorgeous room over looking the gardens”

We stayed in Hotel Particulier for two nights during our honeymoon in Arles. My wife had been slightly disappointed by the rooms in both Bernard l'Oiseau in Saulieu and George Blanc in Vonnas, so I was expecting more of the same.
However the room we stayed in was absolutely beautiful and she fell in love with the place instantly, much to my relief. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic hideaway in this part of France.

This hotel looks great. Situated in the heart of Arles, it is an easy walk to most of the town's attractions. We stayed in Room 6: so if you like what you see in my snapshots then that's the room to request.

The garden is exquisite French Provencal style. Very orderly: lots of planters and formal lines and boxwood... you know the look. Our room was airy and pretty, in a sort of east-meets-west way. Ceiling fan and air conditioning were greatly appreciated in a country where both are rareties. Lots of newspapers available in the mornings, in both English and French. Most of the other guests seem to be European and Asian. I happen to like Americans a great deal, but if your idea of a holiday includes escaping Yanks, then this place will probably please you.

On the downside: the beautiful pool isn't heated, so even on sweltering July days, it's too chilly for a comfortable swim (and I'm not being a wuss... I didn't see any other guest in the pool at any time during my stay) No wi-fi available at the hotel -- this must change! Expensive for a room with no proper bathtub. Nasty incense/perfumed oil burned in lobby and our bedroom (I know that many people enjoy this sort of thing, but it just makes me gag.) Minute parking lot. And while the hotel is absolutely gorgeous and the service good, it felt a bit... I don't know the exact word to use... cold? Impersonal? Business-like?

Overall, probably the best hotel in Arles, but not by a long shot my favourite in France or even Provence.

“Most Peaceful Serene place I have ever been”

We were married in Arles this past August 2004. We stayed at the Hotel L'Particulier as part of our honeymoon (lune de miel) It was the most relaxing, quiet, serene place I have ever been. The rooms are AMAZING, there are only 8 of them. They had four poster beds draped in sheer white cloth, huge shutter doors that opened to the pool that were draped in billowy white linen curtains, free standing old-fashioned bathtub........absolutely beautiful, just like out of a magazine or movie. I believe we were in Room #1. We had a patio off the bathroom and bedroom where we sat and had coffee. It was a mixture of contemporary-clean with classic french flare. The bathrobes were amazing, the bed linens were crisp, and felt so glamourous. I recommend not staying at this hotel if you want to party or be loud......it is very serene and very much like a destination-spa. I will always stay there when I go back. Word to the wise: Learn some french because the staff did not know much english.

“So stylish”

Hotel Particulier

This is a lovely stylish place with a beautiful garden and pool.

Dinner was perfect - if expensive. Breakfast delicious.

But it is hard to find and when you do find the entrance the gates are locked and there is no bell to ring and no sign of how the hotel staff can be contacted or where the pedestrian entrance is ! In our case a local took pity on us and went to the pedestrian entrance and told staff we'd arrived. We rescued other new guests we came across when we came back to the hotel after our post dinner ramble.

It's a pity and could be easily solved.
