This hotel left us with a nasty taste in our mouths
On the first two of our three nights at the hotel there was no hot water when we got back from skiing and wanted a bath before going out for dinner. When we complained, on the first occasion they told us to wait for a while, on the second occasion they told us to run the bath for 15 minutes or so. Neither of these methods worked.
The stench from the public toilets permeated the whole basement area and drifted up the stairs to the ground floor and up the lift shaft.
The whole hotel is uncomfortably over-heated, a situation over which you have no control.
When we arrived back from a meal out a little before 11pm the front door was locked, the bar was shut and they would not serve us any drinks.
The mini-bar in the room was practically empty and was not re-stocked during our stay.
When I ordered room service one evening I was told I could not have anything for an hour. Then I was told that what I had ordered was not available, so they offered me something else, without mentioning that it was €10 more. When it turned up, it was small, not very nice and without the vegetables I had ordered. When I then ordered a plate of cheese and an apple, the fruit didn’t turn up. All of twenty minutes after the fruit had finally turned up they were back, wanting to clear away.
We were refused even the slightest late check-out, being required to check out of a supposedly four star hotel at 11am.
Half an hour before we were due to check out there was a knock on the door and a maid asked us to hurry up.
We bought our ski passes through the hotel and they tried to charge us double.
When we checked out, we complained about the lack of hot water on the first two evenings and they merely expressed their sorrow, refusing to offer us any discount whatsoever.
When we said that that wasn’t good enough, they said that no-one else had complained, that we were paying the low season rate anyway, that there was no problem with the hot water at all, that there was only a problem with the hot water on one night, and that we should have complained at the time.
When we persisted, they eventually offered us ten Euros per night reduction, and told us we would not be welcome back at the hotel again. They did this in a very unpleasant manner.
It was at this point that we remembered our arrival at the hotel, when the owner wouldn’t let us into the lobby. We carried on anyway and there were people complaining at the desk. This was clearly something he had not wanted us to witness.
Throughout our stay there were people arguing at the front desk, one of them a clearly very upset man brandishing a pair of trousers. No-one behind the desk was paying him any attention at all.
On the plus side, the views are lovely and the breakfast was good.
However, on balance, I would not recommend that you stay at this hotel.
