We have stayed in a large number of hotels at different star ratings worldwide, including the South of France. This hotel was booked via small luxury hotels of the world. The room was booked for four nights in early July at a cost of 280 euros per night. We could not believe the room we were allocated. It was at the back of the hotel, so small there was nowhere for the luggage, dated decor with brown and orange flowers, and a view of a terrace below that was part of the hotel with broken concrete and overgrown with weeds. The rating of the room was not worthy of a 1* bed and breakfast. The bed was small, sagging and dipping, covered in a stained, ripped, 'bed cover'. The carpet was thin, hard, brown and sticky. The furniture was musty and broken. The room overall was dirty, the smell was appalling, and it was noisy. The bathroom was unbelievably small and mouldy. We politely and calmly asked if there was anything else available, we were willing to pay any amount, there was availability, but the manager was so offensive because of the rate we had paid, we took the decision to leave immediately. SLH were very helpful and arranged to move the dates on our other bookings, all of which we wonderful.
If we had stated a sea view room or suite whilst booking, we may have enjoyed a slightly different experience.
We moved to Chateau Eze for the same price which was beautiful, and an unmissable experience, with a beautiful room, perfect views, wonderful food and lovely staff.
