I read the reviews after I had booked the hotel and thought I had booked the wrong hotel... Change your hotel go somewhere else.... But it was too late and couldn't find another hotel...
When I got there I thought this is an interesting block of black glass.. Very seventies looking like an office block....
And after reading the reviews I was not looking forward to checking in. I should not have worried, the staff where amazing, so friendly and helpful they could not do enough to assist, they even let me into my room at 11.00am so I can't complain about that.
The hotel room was large and well equiped if a little dated and the bathrooms where definatly dated... however they where very clean and did what they said on the box... Clean white bedding with duvets and good pillows, large flat screen TV's (€5 perday for access to Satillite TV). The hotel is expensive to buy anything... but then this is the south of France and it is pricey where ever you go, this is not a cheap destination. it costs about €6.50 for a coffee and about €3.50 for a small bottle of water, we had a few drinks and paid €21.00 for a beer and a G and T on the terrace, yes I know pricey but the view was fabulous you stay at this hotel for the beach the views and the great staff. not the decor as I said before the hotel is dated and needs to be updated in parts, I have stayed at better decorated Merdien Hotels however the staff here have been the best. The resturant is very beautiful right on the beach with the sea lapping against the shore 2 yards away, it is very high quality and if you go for the standard 3 courses expect to pay about €80.00 per head without wine, (they do have a menu of the day for about €23.00 for one course) The breakfast was great in a lovely room overlooking the beach again great staff who where very helpful.
(There are lots of cheaper bars and resturants in Juan Les Pins so you have a lot of choice)
I think the hotel is a bit over priced if you compare it to other 4 stars hotels in the UK or US but for France this is fairly normal I have stayed in about 8/9 4 star hotels in France and they are all very similar to the Meridien or else they are old and charming no inbetween. I would stay here again as it has a lot of facilities (even thought you pay extra for everything) and it is in a great location right on the beach and I have to say again great staff.
