“Satisfactory staying”

Garden Beach Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Tallinn
Sep 16, 2008

We - me and my wife - stayed at Le Meridien Garden Beach between September 4th and 10th. We ordered standard room with breakfast. Room has located on frontage side of building. Surprisngly the noise from street (crowd, vehicles, cafe Le Crystal and open-air disco-lounge) absolutely don't intrude through window!
Unfortunately we hear some activity of neighbours (creaking toilet door for example).
Room was clean and bright, bed was good, other furniture looks little tired. Toilet and bathroom were in normal condition.
Air conditioner was effective and worked perfectly. New LCD-TV, big safebox (holds freely my laptop).
Breakfast was good. We find all elements for normal eating.
Hotel have the private beach - it's very exclusive in French Riviera, but bed + towel were little bit expensive by my opinion. Beach was small, but ok. Best places for sunbaths we find on pier (unfortunately same expensive places - 26 EUR + 8 EUR for towel per person).
Parking only in public parking. For hotel guests - 25 EUR per night. After priced beach area it was same worst surprise for us.

“Great Location... Great Staff..”

Garden Beach Hotel

Sep 10, 2008

I read the reviews after I had booked the hotel and thought I had booked the wrong hotel... Change your hotel go somewhere else.... But it was too late and couldn't find another hotel...
When I got there I thought this is an interesting block of black glass.. Very seventies looking like an office block....
And after reading the reviews I was not looking forward to checking in. I should not have worried, the staff where amazing, so friendly and helpful they could not do enough to assist, they even let me into my room at 11.00am so I can't complain about that.
The hotel room was large and well equiped if a little dated and the bathrooms where definatly dated... however they where very clean and did what they said on the box... Clean white bedding with duvets and good pillows, large flat screen TV's (€5 perday for access to Satillite TV). The hotel is expensive to buy anything... but then this is the south of France and it is pricey where ever you go, this is not a cheap destination. it costs about €6.50 for a coffee and about €3.50 for a small bottle of water, we had a few drinks and paid €21.00 for a beer and a G and T on the terrace, yes I know pricey but the view was fabulous you stay at this hotel for the beach the views and the great staff. not the decor as I said before the hotel is dated and needs to be updated in parts, I have stayed at better decorated Merdien Hotels however the staff here have been the best. The resturant is very beautiful right on the beach with the sea lapping against the shore 2 yards away, it is very high quality and if you go for the standard 3 courses expect to pay about €80.00 per head without wine, (they do have a menu of the day for about €23.00 for one course) The breakfast was great in a lovely room overlooking the beach again great staff who where very helpful.
(There are lots of cheaper bars and resturants in Juan Les Pins so you have a lot of choice)
I think the hotel is a bit over priced if you compare it to other 4 stars hotels in the UK or US but for France this is fairly normal I have stayed in about 8/9 4 star hotels in France and they are all very similar to the Meridien or else they are old and charming no inbetween. I would stay here again as it has a lot of facilities (even thought you pay extra for everything) and it is in a great location right on the beach and I have to say again great staff.

“You have to experience the culture”

Garden Beach Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Fort Lauderdale, FL
Jul 20, 2008

At first glance of this hotel, you are like this is a Le Meridien. It is nothing like the le meridiens that I am used to in the states. But after realizing that we are in another country that it is different and an older city, we accepted that we were staying at the nicest hotel around. It is located on the beach, which we didnt use but we used the water sports. The staff was very accomodating to our needs, helped us out a lot. Although Antibes is much closer then they say it is and it is the cutest town with a lot more restaurants and shopping! This place really made the hotel great. Because the rooms are older and the elevators not all that great, but the area was worth it.

“Great Beach Location but Overpriced for a hotel in need of a Refurbishment”

Garden Beach Hotel

2 of 5 stars

Thought on booking this hotel i would give it benefit of the doubt, as I had been offered a great deal through hotel connect (who incidently are great as they managed to get me a sea view which was not advertised on their website but they called the hotel anyway on my behalf and negotiated a rate most impressed) for a 7 day stay at a great price of £1288.00 incl breakfast which i thought wasnt bad for a 4* hotel. This 'On the Beach' hotel has such a great central spot in juan les pins, close to lots of bars and good eateries unfortunately that's it!!!, almost everything else you would expect from a 4* hotel is poor and very expensive!!. The day we arrived the wifi connection in the room didnt work for a couple of days and BBC 1 one of the only english channels that was free never worked from the time we arrived to the time we left, whilst all the other channels are chargeable at 5 euros a day it seemed that bbc 1 channel worked while we paid for it funny that!! The rooms/bed were of a decent size and we had a great sea view with a balcony but the decor was a lot to be desired dirty scuff marks on the walls everywhere and a bathroom in desperate need of a refurb and a word to the wise the mini bar is extremely expensive dont even think about it at 4.50 euros for a small packet of m & ms!!. My breakfast experience was not much better either as the toaster was broken for a couple of days and when it returned (from the ark!!) "fixed" it took about fifteen minutes to get any toast out of it and only then if you wanted it unbrowned!!, buffet breakfast was of a poor quality even if there was lots of it if you like fried food, fresh fruit was offer but only if you arrived within the first 30 mins of the buffet opening, there was nothing cooked from fresh for you at all. (At most marriott hotels all hard/soft/fried boiled eggs & omlettes are cooked from fresh at your request). The restaurant on the beach is good but still very expensive and at 12 euros!! for a pint of lager you really have to choose whether to eat or drink not both, the beach beds supplied by the hotel are also not free at 17 euros per day for the front row (front being closet to the sea, there are 3 rows in total), please be aware that if you dont come down for a full day you will still get charged for it!! I didnt use the pool or gym at all but neither looked very tempting as they also needed refurbishing. Overall i think this hotel was poor and not 4*, i would NOT considering staying here again unless they decide to spend some serious cash on improving, updating and cleaning the communal areas & outside of the building, bathrooms, bedrooms and upstairs restaurant . Its a great pity as i would have liked to be able to write something positive about this hotel, because when entering your hotel bedroom the welcoming television message advertises the many features and benefits of this hotel and its other LUXURY hotels around the world, unfortunately this isnt one of them!!! What a great pity as this is such a lovely spot on the cote d'azur, great sandy beaches, great eateries, fab shoe/clothes shops to fit varous pockets and great cocktail bars i shall return definately but not to this hotel!!

“Decent hotel in Cannes”

I stayed here with some business colleagues asfter moving from another hotel on the other side of Cannes as that was terrible.

this hotel was perfectly acceptable. Room was clean and functional. Breakfast was ok, not the best I ever had but...

Dinner in the resturant next door is HIGHLY recomended, it was fantastic. The Seabass was superb as was the rack of Lamb.

Overall, one of the better hotel available in the Cannes area.
