“Fantastic Location, Great Pool”

Le Meridien Nice

Sep 1, 2008

Booked this by cashing in my Starwoods Points. The US call centre hadn't passed on the fact that this was for a family room and there are restrictions against having more than one child in a standard hotel room..

Claudia on the front desk was really helpful and arranged a fantastic upgrade, just when we thought it had all gone pear shaped and we were going to be stuck with paying extra

Hotel was clean, pool was superb and refreshing. and yes you can pop up their for a dip without having to buy a drink, though to be honest the view over the bay is well worth paying for.

The staff were polite and helpful from the doormen to the lifeguard and there was no evidence of building work which may have put people off in the past.

It isn;t cheap, but it was a great start to a holiday in Provence.

we stayed at this hotel in aug 2008 it was nice but couldnt understand the fact you paid for the loungers at the pool or if you chose to go to the beach across the road form the hotel you also pay for the loungers there.i think most of the hotels there charge for their loungers and also for car parking.
hotel itself is nice breakfast is fantastic there and the location of this hotel is also very good.

“Great Location, Decent Hotel”

Le Meridien Nice

I was concerned by some of the reviews of the hotel, but have had good experiences with this brand so decided to give it a try. I am glad I did. I have stayed at La Perouse and at the Beau Rivage previously. This time I was traveling with my 2 year old. The location and pool were big issues for me. The location is great - on the Promenade and a short walk to old town. The Carousel in the park opposite the hotel is great for the little ones. We had a balcony in our room - so we could sit out when our toddler was sleeping. The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly. The pool was great for a little one - not very big but not crowded and a nice lounge area. Food service at the pool was nice also. I'd stay here again. We didnt make it to the hotel beach - we took the train to Villefranche. Its 8 mins by train and there is a sandy (sandy-ish!) beach there.

“Wonderful Stay”

Le Meridien Nice

Aug 15, 2008

I have stayed in numerous hotels of different quality throughout the world. While not a high 4*, I would definately rate the hotel in the four star level.

We arrived in Nice to end our three week vacation throughout France and Switzerland. This stay included one night on Aeroplan points, one night SPG and one paid night in a classic room.

On arrival, we were quickly served at the front desk, they coordinated the three reservations and within minutes were up in our room with our luggage. As a nice SPG gold treat, we were upgraded to a Superior room with a nice view of the sea.

In the room, upon our arrival, we had the afore mentioned tomatoes and olive oil. Actually, since we had three reservations, we had this treat each night!

As for the room, we must have been in an updated room. The black and red Zen style room was small, but very nice with the small niceties (i.e. the reading lights, recliners and table set on the balcony, and little things like a dim light in the bathroom). The only negative was the purple and brown in the hall...maybe they had not yet been updated. The pool itself also has seen a few better days.

As for the hotel, no it is not wonderful on the outside, but even then, it fits with the area. Of course, with many hotels the outside does not make the hotel (the Four Seasons in Toronto is nighmarish...though much better a hotel that the georgeous Royal York).

As for Service, it was impecable. From the Bell Staff, to the front desk, to housekeeping bringing a bed for our son, to the pool staff...everyone was great, responsive and dealt with my broken French (or my wife's better french).

Now, the only reason why we might not return is that we probably could not afford the 500-700 Euro a night for the same room. But I'd be more than happy to burn through my next set of SPG points.

I guess the best complement was that after a horrible experience in the Geneva Crown Plaza and a great experience in the Le Meridien Nice, I will be changing my hotel preference back to the Starwood Chain (where I was platinium for several years before switching to ICH hotels and Priority Club).

“stinky room”

Le Meridien Nice

I just came back from Nice , the hotel is avrege ,not a 4 star hotel.

I had a superior room with sea view , room 526 . The rom was large, but it has a realy small balcony.

The bad part was that in the room it was an ugly smell from the toilete . If we leave the air condition on the ugly smell came from it ..........if we turn it off..........it was realy hot and the stink came from the toilet..........It was not cleaned ok for an 4 star hotel, but then I rarely find that French hotels are cleaned or maintained properly.

The food wasn't great for a 4-star. I eat all the morning only omelette........
The food in the surrounding streets is excellent.

The best parts:
The hotel has a fantastic location - it couldn't be better situated for the gorgeous seafront. It is very close to the main shopping streets and the old town for some great eateries.

I will not return in this hotel..
