Stayed in deluxe room with balcony overlooking park and beach. Clean and refurbished - quality as expected for price and star rating but nothing special. Glanced into some of the standard rooms which had not been refurbished and would not recommend them.
Breakfast good. I usually went around 9.30. People who went earlier told me it was a bit of a scrum at that time due to numbers - it is all self service buffet style.
No tea/coffee making facility in room.
Extra charge for using hotel gym which is very small.
Overpriced spa treatments.
Overpriced minibar contents eg coke or orange juice 6.5 Euro, mini bottle vodka/gin 9 Euros
Small pool that was clean and OK most of the time as not crowded, but I suspect they intentionally accomplish that by charging 10 Euro per sun lounger per day or 8 Euro if after 1pm. Really adds to the costs for a family. No place to put clothes and towels if you don't hire loungers.
These sort or mean aspects of the Hotel had the effect of making me not wish to spend any more in the Hotel than necessary, whereas if these things had been free, as in most other quality hotels around the world, then I would have been inclined to have dinner, spa treatments etc at the hotel. Instead I spent that money elsewhere.
After I left, I remembered that the only other time I'd experienced this kind of penny pinching was at Le Meridien, New York - so I won't book a Le Meridien again. I am sure one can get better value and attitude at other 4 star hotels.
Good location, but make sure you wander to the old town and not stay in immediate area.
Beach stony and uncomfortable and difficult for little children to get into sea as it has a steepish drop over stones. Better beaches a short bus ride away - eg Villefranche. (Use bus when possible as taxis are ridiculously expensive - eg 35 Euro from airport to hotel which is about 5 miles - 4 Euro on good clean bus with suitcase storage area).
