The hotel is very comfortable. The staff is very helpfuI and extremely sympathic.
But I didn't expect to see dirty and broken tiling in the bathroom at this level of price.....

We stayed at Le Meridien for our wedding Anniversary in October. We were a little worried by some of the reviews on this site, but were not too dissapointed.
The bad bits first - for the price you pay we thought they could have put tea/coffee facilities in the rooms, there is no trouser press either and the balconies are so tiny you could just about stand out there, one at a time, but couldn't fit a chair much less a table onto them. The hotel also has no 'kerb appeal', as it is above a Macdonalds burger joint!. There are other hotels with much nicer frontage to them.
Having said that though, the lobby is nice, the staff were pleasant and helpful, the maids courteous and efficient and the rooms large.
the hotel has a good location and is central for shops/cafe's/restaurants. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel which is around 23 euros per person. We walked a few feet down the road and got a lovely breakfast overlooking the med for 8 euros. It all depends on what you want to spend your money on.
We loved Nice and the surrounding areas - visit VilleFrance, just 10 mins away by train, it is beautiful.
We would love to return to Nice but would not stay at the Meridien again. It is overpriced for what you get, but it is a nice hotel, however, there are plenty others to choose from.
Yuck-o - this hotel was soooooo not a typical Le Meridien!
I had just stayed in the Munich and Monaco hotels and have stayed in several other Le Meridien's. Not the Four Seasons, but I definitely didn't expect crusty stains on the carpet, chunks out of the furniture and dirty tile in the bathroom. To say this hotel needs a renovation badly is a massive understatement.
The front desk staff were nice and very apologetic - they kept saying we know, we're embarrassed but there's nothing we can do. Bell staff was rude and slow. Hotel does have a great location so I'm guessing that's how they get away with what amounts to highway robbery. This hotel is what I picture rundown airport Ramadas to look like.
I just needed to share - I don't want someone else to experience the same disappointment we did!
Located very well, good departure point to discover Nice & Cote d'Azur(with wonderful views to the beach and closely to airport (10 min by taxi,+/- 35 euros).
my room was in the highest floor 9, very ample and with a comfortable bed with an ample terrace with wonderful views of the beach.
Breakfast very complete buffet with ample variety of products.
Is a McDonalds right under the hotel that always is a good option due to the high prices of the restaurants in Nice.
In summary wonderful hotel for a great & expensive city.
After reading all the bad reviews on this site, we were worried about what the hotel and people would be like. In our experience none of what was said turned out to be true. The hotel is lovely, McDonalds is next door not directly under the hotel - yes you do have to take the escalator up to reception but the entrance is on the ground floor with porters happy to help you at all times.
We found all the staff to be extremely helpful, receptionists were pleasant - it's a case of if you're nice to them they are nice to you!! We checked if breakfast was included in the rates when we checked in, after reading reviews stating breakfast cost 20 euros. It was and had lots to offer - cereal, cooked breakfast, fruit, croissants and pastries.
Our room was located on the side of the hotel and had everything you would expect from a 4 star hotel. Air conditioning worked which was a surprise!
We spent most afternoons sunbathing on the 9th floor by the rooftop pool, you have to pay for the sun beds (8 euros each) but they're yours for the day. Many people left them for lunch and came back. Towels were included.
The hotel is centrally located, right on the promenade de anglais overlooking the beach. Around the corner is a number of shops but mainly designer so you would need your credit cards! There were numerous Italian restaurants, all reasonably priced (worth checking the menu before you go in).
I travelled with my mum for a long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would recommend this hotel and Nice to anyone.
