The hotel reception staff were extremely helpful and some had a good sense of humour. Our twin room was on the third floor and consisted of a double bed and a single. We had quadruple glazing and this kept the noise from the busy road out. The view from the balcony was amazing although the balcony was a little small.

Breakfast was good with something for everyone. The towels were changed daily and the room was maintained to a high level.

The situation of the hotel was central to everything with many cafes nearby. We had our nightcap at the cafe directly opposite the hotel on the corner and it was an ideal situation.

One negative, not about the hotel I hasten to add, was the trip we booked to St Tropez. This was very costly and the time spent travelling was unacceptable. It took around 2 hours to get there and 4 hours to return home via the coast road with only 3 hours in St Tropez. This cost 99euro and took from 9 am til 7 pm - not the best day.

Also beware whilst walking around Nice. I had my purse pickpocketed from my bag and the perpetrator was extremely clclever. The hotel reception staff were very helpful as were the police but this is a massive problem in Nice so please be aware.

All in all a wonderful time and would certainly stay at this hotel again if I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to return to this wonderful city

I got this room for one night at €141 (inclusive of taxes and breakfast for 2) on www.otel.com The ultimate surprise was that we got upgraded to a balcony room with a full ocean view!!!!! I loved it there. Breakfast is very fine. Overall service was top-notch at this Mercure. The same building houses this hotel, Le Meridien and Casino Ruhl!!!!!! If coming from the airport I recommend a €4 bus ticket as opposed to a €34 taxi fare.

With help from Trip Advisor reviews we booked a 3 night stay in May 2008 through the hotels website.
The location was perfect. We we were center of the beach and had an oceanfront room.
Room was modern, a good size, clean, comfortable beds and had an excellent size bathroom. The room was quiet, even though it is on the main boulevard. It had double windows although we left them open at night.
Breakfast was included in our rate and was excellent with many hot and cold choices.
Staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to store our luggage when we arrived early.
If you have a car the parking lot is attached to the hotel.
We would stay here again.

One of the best hotels in my 2 months stay in Euope - best loaction. Allocated room 304 which was a corner suite which had 2 walls of floor to ceiling windows, a balcony with 180 degree veiw of the beach and Promenade des Anglais - very modern and very claen. Staff very helpful and friendly. We were there for 4 night - could have staed much longer. Central to everything - bit pricey - but you pay for such a centrally located hotel - definely recommend.
