“be careful of the taxi drivers”

While the Petit Palais was very sweet (pink and peach decor), it was quite tricky to find. We had a car and the street was narrow and there was little room to park so we paid extra to park off the street in one of their few private bays. The rooms were adequate, although the bathroom was old and only had a hand-held shower nozzle that made washing your hair very hard. My husband and I had to take turns holding it for each other. The breakfast was fairly good - by European standards. We took a taxi into the hub of Nice for dinner. We took a recommendation from the man at the front desk, but the restaurant turned out to be terrible. The service was unpleasant to say the least - the waiter did not understand me when I asked for Sauvignon Blanc. He repeated it back to me and asked "what is sauvignon blanc"? An obvious problem for him that I was not french and did not speak french. He then brought me Rose. On the way home, the taxi driver chatted pleasantly, and as we paid him, he charged us an extra 5 Euro. We asked why and were told it was a night time cost - it was 10pm. Upon checking this, we were told this was not correct and no such charge existed.

“Wonderful hotel!”

Stayed in Sept. 2003. WONDERFUL views from our balcony of the water and city below. Situated in a lovely, quiet neighbourhood. Nice to be out of the smog of the city. But still close enough to walk to the waterfront. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

“Quiet and charming”

The hotel is charming, with friendly and helpful staff. There is a quiet elegance in the building, and our room was spotless and nice. It had a breathtaking view of the city. Even though it is a long way from the centre of town, it is very close to both the Chagall and Matisse museums. And it is really great to stay up on the hill in such an elegant area, away from the smoggy streets downtown.

Breakfast on the excellent terasse was one of the best we had on our trip to France.

“The Petit Palais was truly a small palace.”

We had 2 rooms for several days in May of 2001. The service was excellent, within walking distance of restaraunts, wonderful outdoor terrace breakfast, great assistance with the desk in directions to locations that were not familiar to us. The view of the cote'd azure was one of the reasons we liked the location, looking out over the tile roofs the the sea. Very quiet neighborhood, and safe. They treated we Americans with a great deal of respect.

“Loved the view from our terrace”

We stayed for one week in August 2003 at the Petit Palais and had a lovely room (Queen bed) with terrace overlooking the old town and with a view of the sea. It was lovely & peaceful sitting out on the terrace and we often had our meals out there. I agree about the shower hose though and my husband was pleased to get back to a proper shower again.
The hotel staff were very friendly and the breakfast buffet was one of the best we have experienced in France. We would definitely stay there again.
