The hotel was fine.
It's not fair to slate it because for the money it is very good. As with anything you can't compare chalk with cheese.
The best ting about the hotel was the location. It's just off the main road but very close to bars restaraunts and very nice parts of town. Perfect for sunny drunken evenings. It is just on the edge of the nice part of nice, any further north towards the stations and it becomes quite run-down.
It was 5 minutes walk from the station which was good for the day trips. The trains are inexpensive and cheap. Easy to explore monaco, antibes etc.
It depends what you are expecting. Nice is not that relaxing, beautiful but there is alot of work going on at the moment in terms of roads being resurfaced and much of the area near the front is being re-designed. It is a city break and if thats what you expect then this hotel will suit you fine.
The rooms are very very small, the bathrooms smaller! They are however well equipped, clean and air conditined. They have a tv and most have access to an outdoor area (ours the fire escape!!). It was a cute little boutique hotel but basic and small. As long as you don't expect it to be more then you will not be diasspointed.
Don't bother with the breakfast. It was very expensive for what it was. The bar isn't really a bar, just a room with one in (if that makes sense!!)
The staff are really really lovely, sweet and attentive. You feel like their only guest.
If its relaxation you are after then stay (and go) to somewhere else. This is not a beachy place but a beautiful charming place to explore on foot, drink wine, eat ice cream and dare i say it, go shopping!!
The hotel fulfills the above brief perfectly, it does not pretend to be anything that it is not and for me that is the most important thing.
