“Terrible Chois!”

A major disappointment, the room was small and cramped with neither a wardrobe or drawers, a simple hanging rail was all that was offered to accomodate the clothing for two people for five days! Very noisy and seemingly popular with swarms of french school children on residential trips. The staff were particularly unhelpful with any sort of request which was met with rolling eyes. The area is at best well located for access to the train station (if you enjoy the noise of trains rattling by all night) but this area of Nice was less than nice with very few restaturants less than a half an hour walk away. The restaurant facitlies Sunfish Cafe was a strange place also block booked every night by touring groups on the one night we managed to book a table we waited for over an hour for a 'prebooked' table and then the food was obviously frozen and deep fried! Breaksfast options was nothing but croissant and coffee. The only positive thing i can think of to say is that the hotel was very clean.

“good value for money 3 star hotel”

We stayed at this hotel for 3 night (city break). It is in the centre close to the main railway station.
The rooms were clean tidy and the staff friendly. Whilst the room was rather basic, however as we spent little time in them that was ok.
We would happily stay there again.
It is a 10/15 minute walk through the town to the promanade but
that was ok.
The breakfast was basic and French (served in the adjoining cafe/bar) but then that was all we needed to stock up for the day.
If you want good value for money hotel and are happy to walk, this might be for you.

“Not as bad as other reviewers would have me believe”

Choiseul

Mar 8, 2007

I stayed here for 3 nights in March during Carnival season with a family member.
We found the room clean but small, yet thebathroom was new and comfortable.
Since it was low season, the hotel was not busy, but walls are thin and our room faced a noisy lift. This may be annoying in summer months.
However, staff were friendly and very helpful, the bar area was welcoming and service was good value for money.
The hotel is very close to the station but this means a 20 minute walk to the old town until the tramline (which looks to be very convenient) is complete.
I would say the Choiseul is a good choice for a weekend during low season.

“Get what you pay for.”

While the Hotel is well positioned and close to the main Rail Station, to enjoy the beautiful city of Nice and code de Azure coastline, the quality of the accommodation is poor. The room we stayed was small, the bathroom could not be described as clean and the bed was somewhere between a rock and a hard place. A request for another pillow was met with a negative response. While we did not eat in the Hotel except for breakfasts, these were very basic compared to other 3 stars we have stayed in. We had no complaints with the courtesy of staff but the bottom line is you get what you pay for.

“A bit of a dump...”

Just after we booked a night at this hotel I discovered Trip Advisor and read the terrible reviews it had received and so I was a little apprehensive on arrival there, but prepared to give it a chance.

We were welcomed in English, and although it seemed a struggle for her, the receptionist did make an effort to take us through the check-in process in English.
We had arrived early and were told it was possible to leave our luggage there. However, the left-luggage room seemed to just be the hotel foyer - not very secure, especially in one of the less salubrious areas of Nice!!

The room itself was bizarre - trying to be modern and upmarket without having the money to spend on it! The air-con worked well and was a welcome relief, but in general the room was let dow by shoddy decor, ancient bedding & towels and poor facilities. There were no plug sockets, no tea/coffee/kettle, no mirror/dressing-table in the main body of the room, and the bathroom was in dire need of a refit.

We were extremely disappointed with breakfast - there were slim pickings to say that it cost 10 euro each...

The hotel is very convenient for the station and airport and serves a purpose if, like us, you were just passing through Nice, but I would certainly not stay there for longer than one night, and am afraid I won't be returning.
