We have just returned from 5 days at Hotel Lepante, Nice. The hotel is small, and in the belle epoque style. bathrooms were new and incredibly clean. Rooms were average but the hotelier, Roland, and staff more than made up for it. They had to move our room on the last night and they thanked us for this by putting chilled wine and fresh flowers in our room. Too lovely.
It's 500 metres to the beach and the old town proper. A pretty good location. We had originally lost our booking elsewhere and found this place in height of Summer with 3 days before departure!!
The terrace is cute and, as they don't have a restaurant, they let you bring your own food to eat there if you want to. There's a supermarket a few doors down, a great bakery "Le Moulin de Amelie", and in Rue Biscarra - opposite - is a fab restuarant called "Le Cenac": ask for Xavier or Julian. The food and service was amazing.
We recommend this hotel for budget travellers, girls' trips but probably not for families or romatic trips away.
