Reading through these reviews i am simply quite amazed at how this hotel has generated ANY positive feedback from its visitors...We stayed here in our first night in Nice and arrived around 9pm straight from the airport to find the first of our problems - the front desk had no record of our booking despite us having phoning the day before to confirm. The concierege (who incidentally both acted and looked like a common thug) treated myself and my partner with an astounding amount of disdain and disinterest as to why this had happened indeed at one stage we were shouted at: '...i don't care, why dont you book into another hotel...there are lots of nice hotels down the street....' This was then followed by him walking off before coming back to shout what i am sure was obscenities at us in French!!!!!!!!
At this stage my girlfriend was understandably extremley distraught and it was now 10pm at night. There was no alternative as the manager was 'at home' but to accept the room that was eventually offered (twin NOT a double) and try to get our stuff sorted out and make sense of what had just happened before getting out of the hotel first thing in the morning...
The room itself was small and disgusting with large damp areas in the ceiling and stained cover sheets on the bed and no toilet roll. Breakfast the next morning consisted of one cup of coffee and two try bread rolls (for 10e!!) But this was a side issue to what had just happened before check-in.
Being 25 yo and having stayed in lots of budget accommodation across Europe I have never had an experience like this and i would be interested to see if anyone has had a similar experience with this particular concierge (guy in 40s, tattooes, bald)...speaking on the phone with the Hotel manager she did admit to having had problems with this particular concierge in the past (seemingly only on at night) but she quickly retracted her comment for some reason.
I would plead with any of you looking at this website for reviews of this hotel not to stay here otherwise there is a dire possibility of being dreadfully dissappointed (not to mention the risk of being verbally assaulted by members of staff)
