“Enjoyable stay”

Best Western Hotel Riviera

I stayed at the hotel March 2005, and was pleasantly surprised, being my first visit to France and having read comments from travelers of the "french standards in hotels." I expected an untidy, small cramped room, and uncomfortable bed. However, my room was clean and roomy, the bed was small for a queen, but was comfortable, there was a small fridge which was handy, but I could have used a little more closet space. The bath was clean, good water pressure and hot water supply in the shower. I had a back veiw of typical french buildings but I enjoyed being able to paint the landscape from the mini-balcony. The staff speaks fairly good english and are freindly and helpful. The maid had to be left a note to change the sheets (I stayed 9 days) but freindly and willing to accomodate. The hotel has 24 hour reception desk and a security buzz in at night, which I liked. I didn't try the breakfast, so I can't comment on it. It is a little bit of a walk to Old Town and the beach, but I walked it daily and had a wonderful time. It is located between the two main boulevards, Jean Medicin and Gambetta which made it easier to navigate since I seemed to get lost easily on all the small streets. I would have preferred to have been closer to Old Town but I got a great deal on the price and would stay again at this hotel.

“Pretty Good - Worth A Stay”

Best Western Hotel Riviera

This is a great little hotel in the centre of Nice. It's a bit of a trek down to the promenade and beach (about 20 minutes) but this may have been made longer by the overwhelming heatwave there was while we stayed there - you do everything slower when it's hot!!! It is however ideally situated for the main train station which is literally just across the road and we had some great trips to Monte Carlo and Cannes. The area the hotel is situated in isn't great to be honest, a bit dodgy with a couple of sex shops littered about so you need to watch your belongings and not walk around too late at night. However saying that nothing happened to us, it was just more of a feeling we had about the place.

The hotel is lovely, quite small but welcoming, and the staff were excellent and gave us some fantastic advice on public transport and local attractions. Our room was quite small but I think this was more to do with the fact we booked it very late rather than a reflection on the hotel in general. Even so the room was nice, well furnished and clean, with a big bed and TV.

We only managed to get down early enough for breakfast once and even then we were quite late and there wasn't much left. However it looked like a pretty good spread with your usual continental breakfast - yoghurts, croissants, bread etc.

All in all a good mid-range hotel, ideally positioned for the town centre and not too far from the beach.

“Good value”

We stayed at this hotel in March 2004. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The triple room we stayed in was okay, bathroom was clean.
However, the location was not very desirable - across the street from the train station, lots of graffiti on the building walls. If you are driving, there is a parking garage across the street which is very convenient to park at night. The hotel gets a special rate for parking - you can get in and out of the parking garage at a flat rate.

“Best stay”

the Best Western Riviera provided a comfortable small room, but with nice decor. The bath was large and had shower and tub recently redone. The location is great; close to the train station and within 10 minute easy walk to the main area. The neighborhood felt secure and there were a number of places to eat close by. The staff spoke English and were helpful, especially Blanca. The breakfast was a bit limited for the price of 8E, but overall it was a enjoyable stay. If you travelling by train this is a great location. Also only a 3euro bus ride from the airport to train station and a short walk to the hotel from the train station. We are over 55 so our comfort level was satisfied. Many other nationalities at the hotel. Would return to the Best Western Riviera Hotel.

“Great locality and service!”

The hotel is located centrally and within walking distance to the main train station. That made going anywhere convenient. It's on a main street and that makes it safe even if you are coming back late. The staff is superb! Excellent as the first thing they did when we checked in was give us a map and highlighted the main places to see and things to do! Saves us a lot of time on research and pouring over the maps!
The breakfast is great although it could be brought earlier for those flying off early in the morning. They even let us leave our luggage there for 6 days while we went to Italy. Only collected our luggage when we returned from Italy. Would have stayed the extra night there if there were vacancies. The rooms are clean and the bathrooms are a pleasure to use. Good value for money! My friend and i will gladly return to Hotel Riviera should we return to NICE. Well done!
