This is a very, very good budget hotel - the location of which simply cannot be beaten. It is right in the heart of things and only a short walk to shops, food, the sea and old Nice.

One warning though - don't try to drive to it! The hotel is on a pedestrianised street, the surrounding streets are very narrow, it is almost impossible to park locally and there are many one way streets.

If you go (and we will return as it is so good), get the bus from the airport (which is only 5 miles away) - this drops you in the square about 200 yards from the hotel. There are plenty of hire car places round the hotel too with their own garages and we agreed that next time we would hire a car by the day as needed.

Anyway, super-friendly staff, quiet, air conditioned, fantastic location. Beautiful city.

We went to Monaco, which is worth seeing but Nice is a zillion times nicer. We were there for 3 days and did not even scratch the surface.

My wife and I stayed in Regence Hotel from 2 Sept 07 to 7 Sept 07 and everything was just perfect. In particular, twin room was large (considering 2 star rating and usual room size in France) and spotlessly clean, air conditioning was a very welcome bonus and every single member of staff (reception, breakfast and cleaning) could not have been nicer. (Young English man serving at breakfast was exceptionally good.) Location could not be better - beach, main shopping area, restaurants and bus station all close by. And it is easy to get to from the airport - 20 minutes by bus no 98 costing 4 euros - Get off at Albert 1er, cross to other side of gardens, walk up Rue Paradise (past all the designer shops!), turn left and voila! We hope to return soon to Nice and, if we do, we will certainly stay at Hotel Regence again. Hope this helps.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel back in mid-July and we enjoyed our stay at Hotel Regence. At first i was worried that since it was a 2-star a hotel, it wouldn't meet my husband's expectations (since he likes to travel 4-star) but we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel staff were very friendly, and we ended up arriving to the hotel early (at 9:30am). Luckily they were able to check us in at 10am, even though the receptionist said that we would likely be waiting in the lobby for a while. Our room was ready early and she took the time to call us from the lobby seating area.

The hotel is fully air-conditioned and this is definitely a plus especially in the summer. Although we didn't experience extreme heat during our stay in Nice, it was nice to have the choice to turn the airconditioning on.

Overall, I enjoyed the stay in Nice and it is a very beautiful town.
I took a day trip to Monaco just to see what all the buzz is, but i definitely prefer Nice over Monaco. Monaco is just overrated with the rich and their toys. When in Nice, make sure you check out the restaurant area where there are simply tons of restaurants to choose from...it's very lively at night.

This is a great hotel for a few days in Nice. Centrally located on the Rue Massena - near all shops and restaurants. Short walk to train station and only 3 min walk to bus for airport! Couldn't ask for more for a short break. Hotel very clean and very friendly staff. Facilities available for changing if you have a late flight. Tea/Coffee making facilities not in rooms but have coffee machine in restaurant at 1.50E each - very reasonable!
Would definately stay here again - strongly recommend for convenience and price!
