We have just returned from Nice, having enjoyed a short break, staying at the Univers for 3 nights. Weather not wonderful.
Having read the majority of negative reviews we seriously considered changing our booking. Thankfully the hotel was really nice.
Contrary to most of what we had read, we couldn't really fault the hotel.
The location is superb - right in the centre, adjacent to the main square with a tram stop 20 metres from the front door and within walking distance of the train station, bus station and the sea front.
The staff were friendly and spoke good english.
Our room was a standard bedroom on 4th floor. It was a good size and the beds were new and firm. The bathroom was clean and yes it didnt have a shower curtain (however, we did shower each time without flooding the floor).
The room was cleaned each day and the service and cleanliness was excellent. We could not fault the cleanliness of the room.
There were no problems with noise and our room had a flat screen TV, free safe, telephone, hairdryer and air con which worked very quietly.
Sadly our booking did not include breakfast so we ate else where. We did consider 9 euros per person slightly expensive for fruit juice, cornflakes, ham & cheese, croissants & buns etc.
However we were very happy with our stay and wouldn't hesitate recommending to other travellers. Ask for room 409.
