My husband and I stayed at the Aria in Nice for 2 nights. We booked it based on a France guidebook. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, so we had no difficulty getting situated. We had read of the terrible driving conditions in Nice, but we did not have that problem because it was Sunday. The parking structure was directly across from the hotel, but when we checked in the receptionist said he had 3 spaces on the street right in front of the hotel door (much cheaper), so we parked our car there for the duration. Our first room was not adequately air conditioned, and when we complained we were moved immediately to an acceptable room. You definitely want air conditioning in the summer! We would not have been able to stay in the first room, and there would have been quite a scene if they did not have an available room. Overall the hotel was comfortable and clean. It had a tiny elevator, but it worked! We had a decent breakfast one of the mornings because I needed lots of coffee to get going. Friends had told us not to stay in Nice, but my husband and I loved it. We are good walkers and enjoyed the old town, the promenade, and the trip to Monaco. The hotel is about 10-15 minutes away from the promenade and the old town and about 5 minutes from the train station. Some would probably want to be closer to the beach, but those hotels were much more expensive. It was a typical big city impersonal hotel but quite adequate for the price.
