“Basic but clean enough”

My Hotels Ayri de Nice

2 of 5 stars
Birmingham
May 4, 2008

The guests in this hotel are all decent families and normal people, so it can't be a bad hotel.

Breakfast buffet was very good with croissants, cakes, and the usual ham and cheese rolls with tea and coffe. Orange juice was pretty awful though.

Room was basic, needed painting but had a modern clean bathroom. CNN etc on the flat screen monitor TV, I was happy enough.

No safe in the room and only annoyance was the cleaner who unlocked the room to inspect but didn't actually change the towells etc and left it unlocked. Glad I returned after breakfast to lock it. Towells are changed normally, don't worry.
(My valuables, of course were on my person, always.)

This hotel is by the station, like Trocadero and Interlocken. You should know by now that the station in Nice, Paris, Amsterdam or anywhere else is always the poor area with drunks, street people, thieves and the usual suspects hanging around the station and surrounding roads.

So when booking a hotel, "near to the station" is usually a bad issue, not an advantage. So go a little further away, and pay a little more. You only visit the station on the first and last days.

Having said that, the area was acceptable, but be observant, OK?

Reminds me of a T-shirt I saw in Amsterdam, which read: Amsterdam Centraal - Mind the Crap.

Would recommend this hotel for a short stay.

“Bit grim”

My Hotels Ayri de Nice

We stayed 2 nights at the Ayri de Nice and while the hotel was situated in a convenient location for getting to from the airport bus stop, it was a 20/30 minute walk to the promenade d'anglais where all the action is. As has already been mentioned, the area the hotel is in wasn't the nicest, as is the way around most railway stations.

The bedroom was basic but not too bad. The bathroom had a massive damp problem and stank. We only had a short time in Nice, and since we spent only a few hours in the hotel, we couldn't be bothered spending it complaining.

None of this took away anything from a fantastic couple of days in Nice, but knowing what I know now, I'd definitely spend a little extra next time and stay towards the beach.

“Good Option for a basic stay that is centrally located”

My Hotels Ayri de Nice

I stayed at the My Hotel Ayri de Nice for a long weekend and was very happy with my accommodations. Note - I was looking primarily for budget price, clean room and central location. This is exactly what I got and I was happy. The rooms have definitely been renovated which is a nice touch - new showers, tile flooring, clean beds. For a single person or two young travelers, this hotel was a perfect option True, it is located on a "dodgy" street (Rue de Belgique); however, when traveling, you should always keep your wits about you. I was never harassed at night and it was very handy staying across from the bus station and train station as well as a stone's throw to the light rail service. The staff was very helpful and spoke wonderful English. The breakfast would be the greatest downfall - get there early and don't expect much. Only stale croissants and cold cuts. I ended up getting fruit from the Cours Saleya and drinking the free tea. Not ideal, but still worthwhile. All in all, I would recommend this hotel for any budget traveler who is looking for a simple accommodation that is clean, well run, centrally located and not too noisy.

“Cheap and not that cheerful”

My Hotels Ayri de Nice

The location of this hotel is great yet dodgy. Great in the sense that it's literally a stone's throw away from the station bus stop and dodgy in the sense that it's situated very close to some adult stores.

For the price you can't complain.. but for a 3 star hotel it's quite poor. The bedding had stains, bathroom smelt, atmosphere -cold, view - abysmal, night time receptionist was outrageously rude, breakfast - a meal that should be missed no matter how hungry you are!

However if you don't mind about these minor things, then this is a highly recommended place for holiday goers

“Fantastic location”

Have just returned from a 3 day trip to Nice where the My Hotel Ayri Nice proved to be a perfect pit stop. This hotel is great if you want a hotel 2 mins the train station or near where the bus 99 from nice cote d'azure aeroport drops you off. It is also a 5 minute walk to the main shopping area in Nice as well as a short walk from some cheap restaurants. The Sexy Love Shop is no more!! - having seen lots of reviews warning travellers about men hanging around the sexy love shop. The street that the hotel is on (Rue de Belgique) is a little run down but it does have lots of character. My only word of warning is to single ladies travelling alone - be careful when walking around the area after dark as there are lots of little alleyways.
The bedrooms are small but perfectly adequate. My only complaint was that there was no hairdryer!! Bed was comfortable, staff helpful, breakfast simple but buffet style in the basement and its only 15-20 mins to walk to the beach. Would recommend this hotel as long as you're not looking for 4 star luxury!! We would definitely go again.
