We stayed two nights at the Royal Riviera. Based on reviews of Tripadvisor contributors, we opted for an ocean view room, as the other rooms look over train tracks. We were pretty disappointed with the deluxe ocean view room. The one window was small and you had to stand in front of it to see the ocean. The décor is very dark and, while nice enough, far from stunning. We were hoping for a more high-end type of room that we could enjoy lounging around. As a result, we wished we stayed in the cheaper room (the view is not as bad as it sounded). The public areas of the hotel are pretty contained – a small lobby and a small bar. However, the pool area is lovely, although not much use in Feb. Service was below average for this type of hotel; you really had to push to get help on things like where to go/maps/information. Up until our dinner, we had concluded that our first stay would be our last at the RR. The dinner, a bargain prix fix at 49 Euro, was absolutely fabulous. If you do nothing else – eat there. The other plus about the hotel was its location. It is right next to the start of the Cap Ferrat walking path that lines the perimeter of the peninsula. Walking along this path was the highlight of our trip. The hotel is also close (5 min walk) to the train station and restaurants of Beaulieu Sur Mer. We will definitely be back to Cap Ferrat, but next time we will try either the Grand or La Reserve.
