“Liked Villa St. Maxime...”
We visited Villa St. Maxime in late Sept. We found the Villa to be bright, airy, modern and very clean. Upon arrival we were greeted with a (very welcome) glass of wine and sat on the terrace admiring the view down to the Med, and up the hill to St. Paul. The villa was full so there was no chance of upgrading from our garden view room... room was fine, but we'd recommend trying for a Sea View room.
Morning breakfast was served on the terrace - croissants etc, juices, yogurt, eggs (any way), fruit, etc... very nice. If you are back in the late afternoon, 'happy hour' brings guests together on the terrace to swap stories etc over complementary glasses of wine etc. Later on, when you get back from dinner, you will find a trolley just inside the door with wonderful chocolates and 'nightcap' material!
The Villa is a 15-20 minute walk (uphill) from St. Paul. WELL worth exploring... especially before noon (when the hoards arrive by the busload) or after 5pm (when they've left). There are restaurants nearby - John or Anne will be able to recommend something for you.
We didn't take advantage of the pool - but other guests who did found it to be wonderful.
Since our trip would take us to Paris, we decided not to spend any time in Nice (yes, we did see/drive past the port and along the Promenade des Anglais). Aside from visiting St. Paul, we took two day trips - one to the East (Monte Carlo, Tourbie, Eze, Villefranche Sur Mer) and another whole day in Antibes... both wonderful... but, be warned, a rental car WITH a GPS is highly recommended!
