“Brilliant”

La Riboto de Taven

Oct 15, 2008

This is one of the best places I have ever stayed. It’s not cool and it’s not stuffed with facilities but, for 4 nights on our honeymoon it was perfect.

We had one of the troglodyte suites which was extremely comfortable and very unusual – carved into the cliff face. I think it was a bonus that the adjoining one was not occupied while we were there, as we had the entire terrace at the front to ourselves.

The owners were extremely helpful, sorting out a friend to drive us to arles for a night out and giving us mosquito spray when we went riding in the camargue. They also laid on an amazing breakfast and evening meal for us and gave us champagne on our terrace each night.

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. And make sure you go for dinner at the Ousteau de Baumaniere while you’re there.

La Riboto de Taven

There is not much more I can say about La Riboto de Taven that has not been covered in the previous reviews. We stayed four nights during August, 08. Christine and Phillip are wonderful and make the difference between a good stay and a great experience. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfy. I highly recommend a visit.

“Quite simply.. exceptional!”

La Riboto de Taven

Quite simply exceptional! The property only has 6 bedrooms and the owners, Christine, Phillipe and Jean Pierre do all the work themselves (plus one maid) and this really shows with the level of service and attention to detail. The menu is different every day and is absolutely exquisite!

We have been fortunate enough to stay at some lovely hotels around the world but this beats them all! You won't regret staying here.

“Better than Relais and Chateaux!!”

La Riboto de Taven

We have just returned from a week in the South of France staying 5 nights in Relais and Chateaux hotels and then 2 blissful nights at La Ribito. What a find! Christine and her husband are superb hosts and Christine's brother is a fine chef (awarded a Michelin star during his time in the UK) producing wonderful food. We stayed in the larger of the two troglodyte suites and benefitted from the breathtaking view of the Les Baux de Provence from our private terrace. Breakfast was served on our terrace each morning, set on beautiful linen with the view as an added bonus.

We are almost reluctant to rate this hotel so highly as it is too good to share!

“Amazing boutique hotel”

La Riboto de Taven

We stayed at La Riboto de Taven for two nights on our honeymoon this past July and had a lovely visit. We were fortunate enough to book into one of their two suites which are truly incredible (280 Eu a night). They are built into the rock face of the limestone rock and they have carved out, what is basically, a cave like area for your to stay. It is amazing and huge! The bedroom was vast with huge tall ceilings, an enormous fireplace and a lovely armoire. There was a WC as well as a huge bathroom. The shower was built right into the cave wall and the separate tub was huge. It was very clean and as my 35 year old husband said, he felt "like Batman when we stayed there. It was the Bat cave!). It was simply incredible.

Christine and her husband, the proprietors, were lovely and offer breakfast in their beautiful garden/courtyard for 18 EU (however, we opted for crepes each morning in town!) This place is also very well known for its incredible menu, but we decided not to eat there as it was a fixed price of 54EU a person which was a bit steep for us.

Not only is there a lovely garden and courtyard (see pictures) but there is also a lovely pool and lounge area. We enjoyed the pool each afternoon after a long hot day.

The location of the hotel is wonderful too and they are a short walk from an up hill path that takes you right up to the town of Les Baux. We had dinner here one night and the next night, in St. Remy which was also a lovely town to explore. There are a ton of local wineries in the area and if you are interested, Christine and her husband will pull together some information and suggestions for you.

This was a wonderful place to stay on our honeymoon and we would highly recommend it for a peaceful and quiet stay in beautiful Les Baux.
