“Mediocre!”

I stayed here several years ago and was very disappointed because from the outside, you would have high hopes that it would be a charming place.

The room looked like something out of a Motel 6. The bed had a cheap polyester bedspread of an uncertain age, the wall-to-wall carpet was scratchy and worn, and the room actually sagged downwards on one side. The bathroom was cheaply put together and looked pretty old. The soap was the French equivalent of the "Cashmere Bouquet" minis that you see around in less expensive places.

I would definitely not stay here ever again.

“We found the food delicious.”

I just had to write after reading these other two reviews. My family stayed there and had a lovely meal the 24th of February. My parents-in-law, brother-in-law, my husband and his 9 year old son.
Parking wasn't a problem. When we asked upon arrival, they told us that around the corner there was a school car park and there was plenty of space for our two vehicles at no cost. The meal in the evening was very good. In fact, my parents-in-law said it was one of the best meals they've eaten in France and they LIVE there for 6 months of the year.
The service was pretty iffy only because it was off season and the staff were young and inexperienced. We'd ask a question and they were really nice about the fact that they didn't know the answer. They were very nice about accomodating our 9 year old picky eater. I think our experience was helped by the fact that three of our group spoke passable French.

“Beware: Unsavory food and service!”

The setting is beautiful but beware!

We ordered wine and dinner (both expensive) and were quite disappointed in the quality. Nothing was worth the price and one dish was actually completely misrepresented. We complained about that dish and the waiter smirked and said, "I'm surprised you have not encountered this type of program before". I took it to mean the restaurant was depended on glitter but served poor food and that we should have known better than to eat there.

We had many happy meals elsewhere in St. Remy but not at the Auberge De La Reine Jeanne which is not a devoted to gatronmical excellence and therefore not worthy of the auberge name it uses.

“Beware parking on market day”

We stayed one night at this hotel about 2 years ago. The hotel is nicely appointed and there is a delightful courtyard where you can have dinner.

BUT

There is no parking. The person at reception said we could park on the street and we decided to park overnight in the public square. He did not say the next day was fair day. After struggling through colorful booths and the crowd, I found the car had been towed away by the police. A trip to the station directed us back through the crowd (BTTC) on a long trek to the pound where we paid $$$ to recover the car and headed back to the police to pay the $$$ fine. Closed for lunch. After lunch we went BTTC to the station only to be told we needed to go to a Bureau de Tabac and buy a stamp to mail in the fine. BTTC to Tabac. Wrong Tabac. BTTC to the right Tabac. Paid fine and left one member to watch bags while we went BTTC to get car. Returned with car. Bags on kerb. Officer on our case. Cannot stop here. Too busy. Wait for an hour when it will become "calm." Appealed to officer it would only take a moment. No luck. All in all the experience took from about 8 AM to 1 PM to resolve.

We did move to another hotel close by with a nice garden and a private parking lot.

Take home message. A nice hotel to visit but watch out for the parking.
