“A Restful Base for Touring Provence”

Hotel Sous les Figuiers

We made Sous les Figuiers our base for our 5-day stay in Provence. The location is perfect for visiting the region. It was wonderful to come back to our lovely room and sit on the "terrasse" with a bottle of wine and just relax.

We wanted a quiet, restful home base for touring, and we certainly found it at Sous les Figuiers. Here are just some of the advantages of staying here: Short walking distance to everything in town; Secure premises (locked gate after 9:00 pm); Extremely friendly & helpful staff; Beautiful courtyard at our doorstep; Peace & quiet after a long day of touring; Computer with internet access for guests' use in the lounge. The room was perhaps small by "American" standards, but the very large terrace more than made up for it.

The entire staff could not have been more accommodating with everything from directions to restaurant suggestions and poolside drinks. We didn't take advantage of breakfast; instead we had coffee delivered to our terrace each morning. We also enjoyed socializing with other guests around the pool while enjoying some wine. Wonderful!

A treasure in the heart of Provence!

“Charming small hotel - great for older couples & people with kids”

Hotel Sous les Figuiers

4 of 5 stars
New York City

We recently visited Hotel Sous Les Figuiers and were very pleased with the overall quality of the experience. The staff are very efficient and helpful, the hotel is spotlessly clean, nicely decorate, and the location is extremely convenient-- in walking distance of most St-Remy and its delicious restaurants. The pool must be a delight in the summer, we looked at it longingly although it was too cold to go in.

Some people have complained about the breakfast. I'm 37 and health-conscious, and I liked it, although my parents who are 'bacon & eggs' types thought it was a little 'too healthy.' Breakfast consisted of your choice of coffee, hot chocolate or tea, served with fresh fruit of the season, croissants & bread with jam, and yogurt or cheese. For 11 euros the price was really not too high, its about right-- there was ample bread, and we paid twice as much in Lyon for breakfast at the Bocuse hotel.

The only cons of the experience perhaps is that the mattresses are quite firm, so if you're not used to that, then you might be uncomfortable. Then again, the hotel's price is also right, so while older generations might long for a pillow-top on that mattress, you really can't complain!

“One of our best experiences in all of France!”

Hotel Sous les Figuiers

This place was wonderful!!! The setting, room, & location all met or exceeded my expectations. I recommend paying a little more for the roomier, quieter back rooms with porches. We were in room 4, spacious & artfully decorated (true Provencal - stylish rustic), with a large bathroom. It's an easy 3 minute walk to the center of town & the hotel has secure parking. The hosts, Kups & Juanito, were wonderful - helpful & friendly when you needed. The breakfast was great. Yes, you could get a less expensive one in town, but the convenience, quality & atmosphere of eating at the hotel (or the option of your room) was certainly worth it's price for us. I highly recommend this hotel.

“The ideal location for our 40th anniversary”

Hotel Sous les Figuiers

Aug 25, 2007

Words cannot express how fortunate my wife and I felt over having selected Hotel Sous les Figuiers to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary in June 2007. We were delighted by the friendliness and helpfulness of owners Denise Kups and Gisele Fuente and the hotel's lovely gardens and spaces "under the fig trees." Among other things, the owners helped us arrange our 40th anniversay dinner at a great little restaurant in the nearby village of Eygalieres.

We had spent 4 days the previous year checking out hotels in and around the Luberon that would meet my wife's vision of celebrating our 40th anniversary in Provence during lavender season. While Hotel Sous les Figuiers is not in the midst of lavender fields, it more than made up for this by being an ideal "base" for inviting family and friends to share our 40th and touring this beautiful part of France. The hotel is only a block off of the major E-W highway between Cavaillon and Tarascon, as well as the road north to Avignon. It is also only a block from downtown St. Remy, with its many restaurants, art galleries, cafes, shops, etc., and its huge Wednesday market.

When we arrived for our 8-day stay this year, the landscaping and other features which had attracted us so much the previous year had been upgraded even more! We learned this was part of the owners' continuous process of improving and upgrading their already lovely property.

Ten of the hotel's largest rooms (13 rooms in all) look out to quiet decks arranged around a courtyard with lovely, shaded walks and flowers. A wonderful continental breakfast is served in an equally beautiful space between the swimming pool and the office. A pleasant, quiet indoor lounge area--with internet access--is available for guests. Even the car park is lovely. Also appreciated was that wine, beer, and snacks are available in the garden or the privacy of your own deck after a hard day of sightseeing. All of the friendly service was deeply appreciated by our sons, their wives, and our other anniversary guests.

“What a lovely hotel”

Hotel Sous les Figuiers

Based on the reviews here on tripadvisor we booked for a four night stay in St. Remy de Provence in this hotel. What a great hotel this is. We just love it. We are travelling with our one year old daughter and she just loves the private deck and the beautiful garden and the fountain. You cansit on the deck forever and enjoy the peace of this hotel and the perfect garden whilst it is only 50 meters from the town center.
We went to some restaurants guanito (who works here) recommended and it was also great. We enjoy our private terras so much that one night we just got takeaway pizzas and a nice bottle of rose and enjoyed it at our terras while our daughter was playing with the beatiful fountain. Everything is just as expected perfectly provence style. We have stayed in many 4-5 star hotels but none of them created the peace and restful atmosfere that we experienced here. Do not expect luxury like television or anythjng like that, it is simple but beautiful provence style and with everything you need and with so much attention for detail. This aftenoon we ordered a salad for room service and again it was great, not only the tast but also the presentation with nice table linnen et cetera all on our private terras under the fig trees, how beautiful can it be???
As you might expect i would recommend this hotel for anyone, go there and you won't regret!
