I stayed 4 nights in July 2008. Since it was tourist season, this was apparently the only hotel we could get. While there, they were turning people away and telling them to look out of town, so I guess we were lucky.

The public areas of the hotel were very nice, very modern, including the hallways. The rooms were 1970's Ho-Jo style with orange and aqua bedspread and dark orange carpet. My bathroom had some mold on the ceiling, which I didn't notice until I showered. Since I have allergies, I asked to change rooms. The desk clerk was unwilling to change my room, but the manager stepped in and accommodated. This particular clerk was never pleasant to deal with, but everyone else was great.

The second (and final) room was mold-free and when I went back to my first room to retrieve my things, the maid service was already in there cleaning away. The second room had fewer stains on the carpet, but the bathroom walls were smudged a bit with something. I ran a wet cloth through some of it and it came off.

My traveling companions, who had their own rooms, were completely satisfied with their rooms, so maybe I had bad luck of the draw. I did have trouble with the wi-fi service, which was not the hotel's fault - I have disputed the charges with my CC company.

The internet in the lobby is not free, nor is the wi-fi in the rooms. Breakfast was pretty good though (but pricey) and the hotel's location is excellent. For a rate of 87 duro, you could do worse.

This is an above average IBIS right in the centre of the old town.

Although having said this it is in a slightly run down modern development of the old town.

The rooms are typical IBIS small, basic but clean.

The breakfast for 8 euro per person was excellent value as it included breads, jams, croissant, cheeses, ham, yogurts, cakes etc etc and was far better than trying to do it yourself by going to a local cafe.

The parking was free from 6pm until 9am the next morning in the underground parking below the IBIS after this time it was 1.5 euro per hour.

Yes it is an Ibis, but very well situated just outside the old city wall, a 5 min walk from the railway station.

The rooms are on the small side, but very clean, we found the breakfast to be of very good value and the staff very helpful.

We stayed for three nights and would have no problem in returning at a later date.

This IBIS hotel also may not have the charm of other hotels, but it too was reasonably cheap (given that we arrived in the middle on an annual festival), clean and comfortable. The hotel was fantastically placed in the old part of town with the lovely canals running alongside the streets. Would definitely stay there again.
