“Such a fantastic mountain retreat...”

Le Hameau Albert 1er

Jan 19, 2008

I went to this hotel a long time agao but i've forgotten to write a comment and honnestly, this is one of my most amazing hotel experience...
Imagine a mountain style wood house overlooking the Mt Blanc with a fabulous indoor-outdoor heated pool secluded in an adorable garden. Imagine a contemporary design with some local antiques. Imagine a very large room with a so comfy bed, a fireplace in front of a very modern sofa and several peaces of wood furnitures from the local country side. Imagine a beautiful bathroom with a jacuzzi and a view on the bedroom behind a glass window. Imagine the tea time on a large provate terrace and this stunning view of the most beautiful mountain... Imagine a dream and go directly to Le Hameau Albert 1er to turn it into reality...
This hotel is the jewel of the French Alps in the world know Chamonix and where you'll have the advantage to take your lunch or dinner in a fabulous two Michelin stars restaurant. The food of Mr Carrier is original and very tasty.
Don't miss the breakfast with a lot of sweet delights, the best way to start an active day in this beautiful part of the world.

I am a frankly amazed to see such as set of 5.0 reviews. The only correct comments are those of the person from Milan who rightly recommends Gatsaad for luxury, The facts are this hotel suffers from a poor location sandwiched between a road overpass and the railway track . It was once a 2-3 star and has gained its reputation for its michelin starred resturant (150 + Euros a head). and has been extensively refurbished Chamonix suffers from a dearth of 4 star hotels.Yes l'Albert 1er is one but you risk disappointment.

“Superb.”

I have just returned from a 4 night skiing break with my teenager daughter and I have just got to say that this hotel, the staff, the service and facilities were simply outstanding. We stayed in La Ferme, which is a farmhouse style complex, adjacent to the hotel. It was a distinct advantage staying there, as the pool and spa were directly under us. We were chauffered to the skiing slopes every day and collected whenever we wanted. The only downside to our stay was the number of children in the pool area. It is not a big space and I found the screaming kids too much. As our bedroom was above this area, it was hard to get away from them...so anyone who is child sensitive should be prepared! That aside, it really was a fabulous place and the staff were geuninely attentive and helpful. Both of us also had a shiatsu in our room which was heavenly and I would certainly recommend it. After a hard day on the slopes, nothing beat returning to our cosy room, with a roasting fire, fluffy bathrobes and a G&T. Oh, if only I could go back there now........Enjoy. It's superb.

“Perfect!!!”

Absolutely perfect and worth every penny!! I booked direct with the hotel which was easy and smooth. Upon arrival we were taken to our room in the "ferme" building (the old farmhouse) and our luggage carried for us. The room was impeccable, rustic wooden decor with an ultra modern twist, massive comfy bed, gorgeous bathroom with shower and whirlpool/jacuzzi tub, separate toilet, plenty of wardrobe space and drawers. Table and chairs perfect for room service and breakfast in your room, telly with dvd player, open fire to get the room super cosy. The rest of the hotel was gorgeous too, the spa/pool area was fantastic, the pool goes from the inside to the outside so you can get out and have a roll about in the snow if you so desire. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. Everyday our room was made up, when we returned from our day snowboarding our room would have a fire lit and when we would return from dinner our beds would be turned down. I cannot rave enough about this, it's like they anticipated our every move and took the next step but we were never disturbed by the staff to come in to clean or anything else, it's like they are an invisible force that make everything perfect for you. If you can afford it I suggest you go there, save your pennies because it is so worthwhile!!

“Beautiful hotel, excellent service”

My husband and I visited the Le Hameau Albert 1er earlier this year for a skiing holiday, we had a fabulous time and really enjoyed the hotel. The staff were incredible and there are drivers to take you to and from the slopes each day which is an absolute luxury and they're all so lovely and extremely helpful.

We did not eat in the main restaurant but the food that we did have was very good and the location of the hotel is great as it is only a 2 minute walk into town.

The facilities are very nice and we enjoyed swimming in the pool and using the jacuzzi/sauna.

The rooms are very comfortable and of a good size and there are good storage facilities for all of your ski gear at the end of the day.

This hotel is definitely worth a stay at if you're in Chamonix.
