We absolutely loved this place. The staff was incredibly helpful and attentive, from the people at the front desk to the waiter at the delicious buffet breakfast. The hotel is full of nice touches, including super comfy bath robes and beautifully wrapped italian cookies on our pillowcases at night.
My husband and I traveled to Chamonix to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. We had casually mentioned this to the hotel when booking, in the context of getting a restaurant recommendation. The hotel staff remembered this and had a big bottle of champagne and beautiful fruit plate waiting for us when we returned from a full day of hiking.
We would especially recommend Chamonix in the early season. The prices are super reasonable and the vibe is a lot more relaxed. We went on a gorgeous hike up the Bossons Glacier (of which we had view from our hotel room) and saw only maybe 8 or 10 people on the trail. Chamonix is a great combination of outdoors and luxury. Hotel des Grand Alpes is really special. We are looking forward to returning at some point soon!

This is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. Very comfortable rooms, freindly staff, relaxing pool and jacuzzi, excellent location - central chamonix. Although the breakfasts are quite steep (20 euro/person), they are excellent, and when the weather is nice, served out on the terrace by the river. Also good garage facilities.

Also would reccoment Atmosphere restaurant at the end of the road.

I can't fault it!

It has been a few weeks now since my wife and I came back from our stay in Chamonix at the Grand hotel des Alpes and I only just found the time to write this quick review, but this hotel and its staff deserve nothing less.
After a short but gruesome trip from London to Geneva, its was a relief and a pleasure to arrive in this warm and delightful hotel.
Despite our late arrival, we were welcomed with a smile and efficiently taken care of by the night receptionist (a cheerful frenchman with the most amazing english accent I have ever heard!) and, after a swift check-in in the beautifully decorated reception area and a quick nightcap, were taken to our room, beautifully decorated as well (all wood and soft furnishings) where we got a well deserved and quiet rest.
We awoke in the morning to a slight disappointment when we realised that the view on the Mont Blanc from our window was rather limited, but that was the only low point of our stay, quickly forgotten after a lovely breakfast (crispy, freshly cooked pastries and a cup of one of the best expresso we had ever had!).
The day staff was as nice and efficient as the night guy was: They arranged for ski passes and sorted everything we needed to enjoy our short stay.
After spending the day skiing, it was nice to enjoy a drink in the hotel lounge before taking a dip in the swimming pool.
No restaurant in this hotel but, as it states in the brochure, "conveniently located in the centre of Chamonix", so no problem to find a good restaurant. We followed the advice of a lovely italian lady (most of the staff are french and italian, as you would expect) at reception, who booked us a table, and we were glad we did. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.
Everything was perfect, as short ski breaks go. The staff was always available to tend to our every need or to give us advice on what to do and where to go.
They all did their outmost to make us feel at home, and so we did.
We had a fun, relaxing time in Chamonix and it all thanks to them.

Stayed one night at Grand Hôtel des Alpes in Chamonix in April – and enjoyed every single minute of it. The hotel is located on the main pedestrian street – in the middle of Chamonix – close to everything you want to be close to. I’m sure it must be one of Chamonix finest places to stay. The atmosphere is so peaceful and you truly feel like home. The staff are doing everything they can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. I checked in late, and since the hotel doesn’t offer any roomservice – one of the staff-members offered to go next door to get me a hamburger. Super service! The breakfast-area and buffet was also amazing. They even have M&Ms for breakfast, if you’re up for sweets Beautiful paintings on the wall and very quiet. Loved it! You should also check out the sauna and pool. They both have a really private feel to it. I’ll be back again if I ever go back to Chamonix – for sure.
