Loved this hotel. Charming does not even begin to describe it. The concierge, Gerard, spent 3 days before I arrived finding a suitable yoga class for me. Service is impeccable. Location is wonderful (situated in the heart of Old Lyon). Great walking tours within 10 minutes of the hotel. If you're in Lyon, you must take a car to Paul Bocuse's Restaraunt (consider by many to be the best in all of France -- if it is even possible to pick one). Paul Bocuse himself greets every arriving guest. The food is superb (but they're not "giving it away!").

Have stayed here twice, both times very enjoyable. Great location in the old town, funky rooms and common areas, perhaps could us a bit of updating, but still works. Front desk and bell staff were friendly, great concierge, good breakfast staff but dinner waitress a bit cold. Bar is nice for drinks before going out.

“Excellent Hotel in Old Lyon”

Stayed 2 nights in Cour des Loges Lyon in April 07. Excellent location in centre of Old Lyon and architecture is unique. Staff were absolutely excellent, especially porter, the best and most helpful I have ever come across. Was booked into standard room, which was medium to small size, but overlooked rear gardens so was quite sunny and very peaceful. Toilet was the only negative: it's effectively a very small portacabin concealed in the corridor of your room. Let's just say you wouldn't want to be claustrophobic and constipated...! Bathroom was also somewhat disappointing. Quite small with nowhere to hang your clothes and very little space for toiletries. Bath was very large but painted a very dull dark grey as was the surround. Nice bathrobes and safe in room. Pool in hotel is extremely scenic but too small to swim. Garden at rear, though in need to tidying, was a lovely place to chill out right in the middle of old Lyon. Birds singing, cats on old walls, hard to believe you were in the middle of a city! Had dinner on one night. Service was excellent and food was very good. But, as with all nouvelle cuisine, it was a case of not a lot on your plate but a lot on your bill! Wine card is excellent. Breakfast is very expensive at Euro25, but excellent with best variety I have had in France. I would definitely recommend hotel for a weekend, especially romantic getaway. It's expensive though, so I suppose it just depends on what you expect for your money.

“Great Experience of Old Lyon”

Cour des Loges

5 of 5 stars

Stayed here on a business trip and it was sort of an adventure in Old Lyon.

The building is an old (1500s?) building set in the Old Town section of Lyon--so if you want a modern set up this is not for you -- they sort of retro fit a new hotel in an old building so expect some of the quirks that come with that. You really feel like you are in the 15th or 16th century.

The room I had was a bit narrow and small (it was of the cheapest price tier of the hotel). It had a bathtub only (with a shower nozzle thing) and the bathroom is not its own sub-room -- the sink is outside in the sitting area of the room, the bathtub in a corner behind a curtain -- like a hot tub setting sort of -- and the toilet in a closet of its own -- but that was the only real downside and was sort of expected in such an old building. The bed was large and comfortable and upstairs in a kind of loft. No real sitting area in the room.

The restaurant was excellent -- I had the veal and it was the most tender veal I have ever had -- it almost cured the guilt of eating veal. The staff was friendly and spoke decent English and you can't beat the location in the heart of old town.

Expensive overall but it was a company trip :)

“Brilliant and worthwhile experience”

We came to Lyon for a rest and a gastronomic weekend and were not at all disappointed by Cour des Loges. Beautiful sorroundings and good food. We only had one dinner , the menu gourmandise and the food was superb (except for the meat course which wasn't as good as all the others - Patience, chapitre 1,2 et 3!!). Our room was a junior suite and very well appointed with somewhat dark but interesting decor. The mattress was firm and extremely comfortable and we had a good view of the garden and easy access to the pool down the hall. The staff were brilliant and very helpful. We shall definitely be returning.

    • Tips/Secrets: — eat dinner in the restaurant at least once but not the meat dish
