Stayed 2 nights in Cour des Loges Lyon in April 07. Excellent location in centre of Old Lyon and architecture is unique. Staff were absolutely excellent, especially porter, the best and most helpful I have ever come across. Was booked into standard room, which was medium to small size, but overlooked rear gardens so was quite sunny and very peaceful. Toilet was the only negative: it's effectively a very small portacabin concealed in the corridor of your room. Let's just say you wouldn't want to be claustrophobic and constipated...! Bathroom was also somewhat disappointing. Quite small with nowhere to hang your clothes and very little space for toiletries. Bath was very large but painted a very dull dark grey as was the surround. Nice bathrobes and safe in room. Pool in hotel is extremely scenic but too small to swim. Garden at rear, though in need to tidying, was a lovely place to chill out right in the middle of old Lyon. Birds singing, cats on old walls, hard to believe you were in the middle of a city! Had dinner on one night. Service was excellent and food was very good. But, as with all nouvelle cuisine, it was a case of not a lot on your plate but a lot on your bill! Wine card is excellent. Breakfast is very expensive at Euro25, but excellent with best variety I have had in France. I would definitely recommend hotel for a weekend, especially romantic getaway. It's expensive though, so I suppose it just depends on what you expect for your money.
