the Simplon is clean and bacsic and reasonably located in Lyon, and the area around gets noisy early so don't plan a sleep in.

the rooms are clean and fairly appointed for for a two star hotel. the staff were friendly and willing to assist where possible.

we only stayed the one night and it was ideal overnight quick stop on a driving tour to Provence, certainly fair value for money.

We stayed at the Hotel du Simplon for 2 nights on the 5th and 6th January. The front office staff are cheery and pleasant and we received a warm welcome but a young girl who could speak English. The room was spacious and homely and very clean. Breakfast was basic: bread, croissant and juice. The hotel is a short walk from the train station Lyon Perrache. It was simple however we paid a simple price too!

The hotel has the basic necessities, there's nothing spectacular about it. One plus point is that it is very close to the Lyon Perrache metro station. We had some difficulty locating it the first time, but it was pretty simple from then on.

uThis small, charming hotel is a find in the bustling city of Lyon because of its super-convenient location next to the Gare de Perrache and its incredible service. The owner, whose name is a variety of cherry, has a lovely collection of cherry-motif items displayed around the public areas, and her sunny, helpful demeanor made us feel as warmly welcome as that fruit is sweet. We were greeted by a pretty drawing room and airy breakfast area that made us feel right at home, and other members of the staff are just as eager as Mme R to make our visit a pleasant one.For a very reasonable price, this hotel wins our "best value" award. The only disclaimer--there is no air conditioning. In cool weather, this would not be an issue; but as we had to sleep with the windows open, we were awakened at dawn each morning by either street noise or a Rhone thunderstorm--or both!
